Growing up on New Zealand's dragon reserve, Beauden thrived in the wild environment that surrounded him. He was a true wild child: daring, fiercely loyal, carefree, and occasionally hotheaded and stubborn. His love for the outdoors often overshadowed his interest in at-home studies, leading to a noticeable disinterest in his education. Nevertheless, he had a keen fascination with subjects related to magical creatures and physical activities, though his inconsistent academic performance gave his mother, who was also his teacher, more than a few headaches.

When his mother accepted a teaching position at a wizarding primary school in the United Kingdom, Beauden was far from enthusiastic about leaving his home on the reserve. He was determined to stay behind with his father, but his mother was firm in her decision. Although initially resistant, he eventually warmed up to the change of scenery when he discovered the many opportunities for mischief and adventure that came with attending Hogwarts.
