The chapter continued on, each word highlighting how numerical values and the grammatical structure went hand-in-hand. Whether it was a person's name, a spell incantation, or even a potion, the syllables, rhythms, and measurements had much to reveal. While she expected words and letters to be of significance in Arithmancy, she found herself intrigued with how numerology intertwined with potion making. But it was all adding up.
Her focus from the words on the page momentarily wavered when she heard someone come in. Quiet as a mouse, Gilly remained where she was, still as ever. She carried on with her reading, certain whoever it was would be leaving soon and that she probably wouldn't be noticed if she didn't draw any attention to herself.
But the sound of grumbling and the flop on one of the beds removed her from the book again. Gazing around to see who the culprit was, her eyes fell upon Bryony. She blinked a few times, wondering if she should say anything (considering the information she was privy to and what she had observed as of late) or return to what she had been doing.
"Hey," she managed to say quietly.
