Coming up with an original idea for brewing a potion was already intimidating enough but having to ACTUALLY complete it was even worse. It had taken the Ravenclaw long enough to search through piles and piles of books for a list of appropriate ingredients but the whole quantity and method thing was frazzling her head. She was already being tutored by the sixth year Rowan in the hopes that it might boost her grades up to an acceptable standard in exchange for her braiding abilities. She was the daughter of her cousin’s cousin, or the grandchild of the brother-in-law to her ma’s brother so they were practically family anyway in some convoluted way that likely only made sense in Aurora’s head.

It was through this likely frustrating for the redhead’s guidance that Aurora had managed to come up with something of plan that resembled a load of numbers and words scribbled on a pink scented piece of parchment as if the colourfulness would inspire her somehow and make it make sense. She’d found herself sat on a windowsill in the second floor corridor rewriting her plan to present to Professor Adara at a later date.

Text Cut: Aurora’s Plan
Potion: Kneazle Scratch Healing Salve.
Potion Type: Topical paste, to be applied rather than ingested.
Ingredients
- Dittany (2-3 leaves Dried and crushed)
Essence of Dittany is a pre-existing potion which works well to restore skin growth over injuries.
Witch Hazel (5 twigs)
Muggle derivatives which aid in healing scars and has antiseptic properties. Kneazle claws are likely to be very dirty so may help prevent infection.
Water (boiled for the witch hazel to seep in)
Witch Hazel is usually created by boiling the twigs in water for several hours. This step should probably come first.
Flobberworm Mucus
For the texture so it’s more of a lotion rather than a potion that can be rubbed into the injury.
Eliminated Ingredients
- Kneazle Fur
Concerned it may cause the user to turn into a cat aka Hermione and the Polyjuice Potion
Horklump Juice
May affect the texture too much and make it too runny. Also has very similar properties to Dittany so likely unnecessary.
Murtlap Tentacles
Purple ear hair as a likely side effect doesn’t sound like much fun!
Steps:
1. Chop Witch Hazel twigs until it resembles a bark like texture
2. Add Witch Hazel to 200ml of water and slowly boil (stirring occasionally) until the mixture turns yellow-brown (like the flowers).
3. Remove the cauldron from the heat, strain out the liquid and discard the bark.
4. Crush the Dittany leaves with a pestle and mortar and add to the empty cauldron.
5. Add Flobberworm mucus one drop at a time until Dittany the paste turns green.
6. Add 6 drops of the Witch Hazel liquid to the concoction and stir 10 times clockwise (Note to self: try anticlockwise too just in case
7. Hope that it worked.
