"I completely understand why," she nodded softly. "Their feathers look so lustrous and soft AND the way water just rolled right off their backs is rather majestic." All waterfowl had that appeal to them. She really admired them too for looking so elegant and poised above the water whereas beneath they were working rigorously with their adorable webbed feet. She kind of wished that there was a flock of geese on the lake now...would be a welcomed peaceful distraction and she had read that they were seen as harbingers of change, migration, and transitions.
His pause, no matter how short it was in reality as opposed to how it felt, was a clear enough indication that her apprehensions and concerns were warranted and even validated...though she wasn't sure that such sentiments were comforting. It felt the complete opposite as her stomach dropped and she took an audible deep breath. "Yeah," she nodded while wiping her suddenly very itchy and stinging eyes with the knuckle of her index finger. Very stinging and maybe even watering a little. "Professor Ameliorating Te--- Professor Feirgrund has assigned me two types of journaling to help with some things...a dream one and then a notebook to write things down throughout the day to help me remember things...would be great if my remembrall worked to help too but..." She paused briefly as her voice every so slightly cracked and she wiped her agitated eyes once again. "The dream journal is...kind of helping with the daymares and night terrors...I think...maybe..." He squeezed her hand gently in return, trying to offer whatever reassurance he could. "Yeah, I'm sure that was why." Though his young child brain wouldn't have put it so eloquently. The thought running through his head at the time was probably something more along the lines of "Birdy!!" But at least it taught him the lesson not to try to pet wild animals. Not that it had fully sunk in the first time. Sometimes it took a few experiences for the learning to actually stick.
Ezra's focus was entirely on her now instead of the lake, so he noticed her wiping at her eyes. So, sort of instinctively, he released her hand to slip his arm around her waist, hoping that might offer a little more comfort and reassurance. Almost like a side-hug. He listened as she mentioned...Professor who now? Oh. Feirgrund. Right, that made sense. And it seemed like a good suggestion, writing things like that down. "I'm glad it seems to be helping." Even if she sounded really uncertain about that assessment. "Do you think...talking would help too?" Whether with him or Professor Feirgrund or someone else, if she felt comfortable enough doing so. Or maybe that was already part of the assignment, if the Healer read the journal at certain points. He just wanted to find a way to help if that was possible.
