There was no point in blaming himself for something he didn't consciously CHOOSE to do. Some things just.... happened. As for his next words? Well, those were things he could promise. "I know for me, I can say I will. I don't have any expectations for anything for the future. We're young and romantic feelings can change or grow or adapt or..... whatever the other things they do is. But friendship is a consistent, so I can always offer that." And while he wasn't necessarily saying he thought his own feelings could one day change, he wanted to make it abundantly clear that for Ary - whatever he needed to do in the future, Drake would be supportive, regardless of if the outcome might hurt him.
Friendship first.
.... Oh. Drake wasn't really sure what else to say and while he nervously chewed a bit on the inside of his lip, he glanced over at Ary. And the smile? Well, he couldn't help but return it, as his friend slipped his hand into Drake's. Drake's grin just grew and he gave him a small squeeze in return. They didn't need to say anything else on the matter now. But... it did feel nice to at least know everyone's feelings.
Ary did see now what Drake had been trying to make him understand: it wasn’t his fault; this messy situation was not his fault. The understanding made him breathe easier, and though he was yet to break the news to Bry… well, he’d face that when the time came. “Look at you… when did you become so wise?” Ary asked Drake lightly. “But I hear you. I hear every word. I just want to let you know that I doubt my feelings will change. It’s sort of difficult to explain but I just know.” Aryan had been doing some research and now learnt that there was a term for persons like him who were only attracted to someone {someones, in his case} super close to them.
Indeed. Friendship was always important.
Seeing Drake’s smile made Aryan feel even better, and doubly happy that he had finally come clean. It seemed that all was right in the world at present. “Shall we continue exploring then?’’ he asked, swinging their joined hands. “Pretty sure I saw a bowtruckle over there.” Ary pointed to his and Drake’s three o’ clock. |
