Yeahhh, Mr White! Yeah science! Was he gazing? Archie had been completely unaware of any sap.. but the comment from Angus made him realise that he was, in fact, doing the whole dreamy eyed thing. With a clear of the throat and a small fleeting frown, he sat up straighter, hoping that Ang was the only person in the room that had noticed. Archie didn't like that sort of thing out in the public eye.
He took a sip of drink and savoured the flavour. There was nothing quite like the deep, warm tones of firewhiskey. The conversation turned to his youngest child, Scarlett.. “Got it in one. She's the product of a nasty divorce and the need to make her feel loved. Special. But Andrew doesn't use it to his advantage the way his sister does.” Andy was a worry in a different sort of way. A polar opposite to Scarlett. He had always been reserved, but the divorce had caused him to retreat even further into himself. The family were lucky to get even a grunt out of him in conversation.
The topic of Hogwarts houses was certainly lighter and Arch let out a laugh. “True that. Leave the stupidity to the Gryffindors. Matty would try it in a heartbeat.” And Hufflepuffs? Probably too sensible.
He considered his partner's question. Had he changed? “Maybe you haven't. But I have..” Life did that to you. Archie had a weight on his shoulders that he didn't have the last time the pair were here. Granted, it was lighter since Angus came back into his life. But not even the stress of exams compared to what life brought after graduation. If only you had been aware of that fact when you were living out those years. Not that Archie would change anything that had happened since – not even the ordeal with his ex. If things had been different, and Archie and Angus had actually got together back in the day, he wouldn't have his kids. “Then again, I don't know where I'd be today if life hadn't played out the way it has.” Would he have remained in the magical world? Would he have even have studied law? No, Angus might not have changed, but Archie most certainly had. “Are you telling me that the States didn't change you? It must have been an amazing experience. Lucky guy.” He chuckled lightly.
