Potions Long-Term Assignment This term after having a few lessons already during the month of September, Professor Adara announced that you'll be researching and creating your own healing potion. Whether the healing potion is for burns, the common cold, broken bones, or some other ailment - that choice remains up to you. But the creating your own elixir should be centered about healing.
As mentioned, there will be three parts. Each worth up to 15 points. If you don't do part one, that's fine, but since each part builds on each other, it would be easier to complete the next parts with doing the preceding steps. This particular thread is to be used to make ONE post to track your progress, as well as for me to provide the next steps (I'll also post on the potions noticeboard). However, the actually RPing should occur in either the laboratory, the storeroom (when you're getting the ingredients you need), or possibly even the library (when in the research stage). Quote:

Part One: Researching ingredients - This should encompass at least two posts of researching various ingredients and their possible effects. Should include research of at least 5 potion ingredients (don't need to use them all!)
- Should also research what you might want your intended effect to be. This could alleviate muscle soreness, cure allergies, whatever you'd like, just should have something to do with healing.....
- This part is where you should be selecting what potion you want to brew. Ideally it should be an original brew, BUT obviously not expected if your character is on the younger side / less experienced with potions. For instance, you could take something like the 'wiggenweld potion' and maybe add a flavor to it, to tweak it slightly. Or similar to charms and how there's a "lumos maxima", perhaps making a stronger variant of an already existing potion.
Part Two: Plan your potion - Narrow down the list of ingredients to ones that are likely to be useful. Include which ones would be useful and why ?
- Plan what the steps might look like?
- This should be more detailed and elaborated than your initial brainstorming, but doesn't need to be the final draft
- At least one post
Part Three: - Make sure Professor Adara signs off on your potion / ingredients first and then you may begin the brewing process
- This MUST take place in the laboratory, with the exception of perhaps a storeroom post to retrieve the ingredients....
- This should be around 3-5 posts
Deadline for posts: July 27th
