What Emma hadn't expected though was to one, see a trail of glitter on the ground upon entering the hall ... and two, long electric blue hair seated at the Hufflepuff table and Maria's skin glowing gold. It made her almost unrecognizable.
"Maria? You're ... looking very ... bright?" She wondered how long that took to get her skin and hair like that. Maybe should take a bite from Sloane's book and get Maria to be a guardian for her. Or she could just wait two years, but that seemed so far away. Unlike Maria, she did look at the staff dais and happened to notice DeVries absence and Professor F was wearing a hat with a dancing badger, which could only mean one thing ... "Looks we got a new house head? No Professor DeVries anymore" Sad. She liked him, but also maybe explained his gifts he'd left them at June's closing feast. Seventh year, her final year Maria sat, and mused to herself knowing full well that her electric blue hair, and glowing gold skin was bound to attract some attention. The first person to notice was Emma when she arrived to sit down at the badger table opposite her. Smiling Maria laughed warmly "Yes, I'm still Maria. Hi Emma, I just wanted to make my last opening feast memorable so I bought some things from Madam Primps in DA to brighten things up. Vera went for the most glitter though." She added with a gesture to her best friend sitting over at the Gryffindor Table in all her shiny glitter.
At Emma's comment about professor De Vries, Maria directed her attention up at the staff dias for the first time that night, and nodded "It looks like Professor Fergersnout is our new head of house if the funny badger hat is anything to go by." Scanning the full length of the staff table some more she replied a little sad too with a look back at Emma. "It looks like professor De Vries really is gone, and we'll have someone new to teach us herbology. I hope they will be as good as professor De Vries was." To not dwell on sad things she asked "So how was your summer break Emma? Did you do anything fun?"
