The Kappa paid his escaping victim no heed; it couldn’t because it was too busy trying to sink beneath the water in order to regain its strength. It was going to be fine though. However, the Kappa was ultimately going to be disappointed and angry when it was itself again; it hated when victims escaped.

That’s right! She was a witch and had a wand at her disposal.
The plan worked all right. The cucumber whacked the Kappa on the side of the head, startling the demon, in its haste to reach Desiree. Before the Kappa knew it, the cucumber was going to be in Desiree’s hands. |
