The kitchen was one of Desiree’s favorite places in the castle! Having some free time on her hands today, she tickled the pear and turned the knob. She stood, basking in the sights and sounds of the kitchen, until she remembered her reason for coming. Her dad’s birthday was coming up soon, and she needed to make him something. What should she bake? His favorite dessert was opera cake, but that seemed too easy. She wanted to challenge herself by making a new recipe!
Moving to one of the tables, she pulled a book of French dessert recipes out of her bag and rifled through the pages. Macarons? No, she’d done those a thousand times! Clafoutis? That would be a new challenge, but it didn’t look like it would travel well at all. A recipe for chocolate raspberry eclairs caught her eye. That one looked challenging, yet easy to transport. It was perfect!
