Once the yawn had passed, hazel eyes turned to Professor Gert and she offered a sheepish smile. "Good evening, Professor. It's awfully pleasant in here!" She said as she made her way towards a desk and slid into a spot, before working on brining out her parchment and quills for note taking.
She did a quick glance around the room, looking for any clues on the subject for the lesson this evening. Spotting none, she just went back to preparing her supplies on her desk and waiting for any other arrivals. Professor Gert bit back a chuckle at the yawn that escaped her first arrival. Ah yes, the downfall of a class that usually needed to meet late in the day. “Guid evening, Ms. Thantos,” she greeted in return before nodding at the girl’s comment. “Aye. Always more enjoyable nae to freeze when ye trying to learn.” She may be January born and love her Scottish home, but the cold could get to her. Quote:

Would be the rhetorical thought as a witty serpent snaked his way up the staircase to the Astronomy Tower after dinner. Of course, it was rhetorical for he knew why said class was on the topmost floor. Simply an easier view of the many stars, constellations, and planetary bodies this way. But still, it did reel in the question of why couldn't they finally just install elevators or escalators? Archie had heard they had the former within the bounds of the Ministry itself, so why not grace the students with it? To put it another way, the very thing would come in extremely handy. It was the early 22nd century after all; why not use the luxury of these certain inventions, muggle or otherwise, to their advantage. Even those who did potentially see the counter-argument of 'traditionalism' had to admit, it was devices such as those which made life all the more easier without actually needing magic. Which is what made it all the more fun.
Sighing as he finally reached the stair's apex though, it was a relief to have made it up to the room in due time. Walking right into the classroom though, there was an ambiance of slight mystery. Most of the time, the Professor had already laid out something that gave a hint as to what the lesson would be about. Not this time around though it would appear. Then again, that in and of itself did tie in with the subject as a whole. As much of Astronomy in general was shrouded in the unknowing certainty of the universe and its many marvels. Ultimately, it was something that Archie would just shrug off in his mind and not question too much beyond that. Instead, what he would do was find his way to one of the desks, taking a seat right behind the older student who was already present. On the way to get there, he would wave at the Professor and exaggerate the climb that it took to get there. In between ostensible deep breaths, the lad would say "Good-" Breath... "Evening-" Breath... "Professor Gert-" Exasperated sigh... "Lovely...night for it..." The last comment would be made as he examined the clear view outside.
And finally, after doing the small show, he'd take his seat and wait for class to begin the session. A younger Slytherin boy was the next student to come through the door. “Guid evening, Mr. O’Brien,” Celeste echoed “Aye indeed…” she remarked as she watched him with a touch of concern with his movements and huffing and puffing as he moved to take a seat. “Are ye alright?” the professor asked, just to be on the safe side. As was usually the case, her eyes were gloriously bigger than her belly and with an extremely full stomach from the hearty food of that evening’s dinner time the trek up to the Astronomy tower was even harder than usual. She had originally attempted to take the hike two steps at a time and save some energy for that final push but she quickly realised that her short legs were physically incapable of such a reach and that she would be even more tired by the time she reached the top. So the two-stepped approach was promptly scrapped in favour of running up one flight and pausing again and again until she reached her destination. “Hi Professor!” the blonde puffed out a little worn from the expedition as she pushed the door open to the Astronomy classroom but otherwise in good spirits. Astronomy was NOT her best subject, in truth it ranked somewhere down the bottom but that wasn’t through lack of trying or effort. She just didn’t get it. It was highly unlikely that she would proceed with the subject beyond her OWLs but that wasn’t Professor Gert’s fault. In fact the fourth year thought the Professor was incredibly wise and graceful much like her Animagus counterpart.
Not really paying attention as to who was already present, the fourteen year old proceeded to find somewhere to sit before her stomach protested against exercise immediately after dinner. Thank Merlin she wouldn’t have too far to go back to her common room. The Ravenclaw girl that followed seemed at least to be a bit less distressed. At least a little more cheerful about the situation after her trek up the tower stairs to the classroom. “Hullo Ms. Ackerley,” Celeste greeted as the girl took her seat, making a mental note to perhaps scutch her class timing just a bit later for comfort after dinner. But of course there was still time for that decision so this wasn’t the moment he would hurt his head with that sort of thing.
Spotting the professor, the Slytherin shot her a smile and the standard greeting of a finger wiggle-wave as he went to take a seat. On his way, he passed Vera who received a friendly poke in the arm. He stopped at a free desk beside Archie. Ary sympathised because his fellow Slytherin seemed to be recovering from the climb to the Tower. Oh, he understood; he always dreaded having to trek all the way up here. “Hi, Archie.”
Now that Ary was seated, he could give the classroom his full attention; probably he would be able to figure out what the topic would be all about. Ah, another young snake joined the mix, one definitely seemed to have faired better. At least by appearance. “Guid evening, Mr. Atreyu Rehman", she greeted with a smile of her own, always a touch bemused with the familiar gesture from the boy. Reminded her just a touch on something her youngest would do. Quote:

The warming charms and pretty night sky brightened her mood. ”Hello, Professor,” she greeted with a polite smile and wave. Her bright blue eyes searched the room for the professor’s owl, but she saw no sign of him. ”No Hamish tonight?” ”Hi, everybody!” Cue more smiles and waves for the other students as Desiree took her seat. She neatly arranged her supplies in front of her and waited for the lesson to begin. “Hello Ms. Marchand,” Celeste greeted the seventh year as the elder girl joined the gathered students and waved at her in echo of Atreyu-Rehman. The professor watcher her look around the room, shaking her head at the question. “Nae…he’s out for his own supper.” Aka flying about doing what owls did best. Though indeed it was rare that he chose to miss hanging around the classroom when he could attract beloved attention from his human’s students. Quote:

Which is where she had needed to come from because that's where all of her things were for the lesson!
Yet somehow Bry was still bouncing on her feet and overflowing with energy as she finally made it. "Hello Professor," she greeted with the brightest of smiles on her young face and some wiggle fingers to join it. "Will we be getting to see some pretty stars of plants tonight?" She really liked how the stars twinkled!
On the way to her seat (nearest to Aryan of course!) the little blonde wiggled her fingers at the others in the room. Hi everyone! Her bestie got a gentle nudge to his shoulder and a huge smile. There was the other half of the Atreyu-Rehman/Paton duo. The astronomy professor had been wondering about her momentary absence since the two second years tended to be shadows of each other . “Hullo Ms Paton,” she greeted her colleague’s daughter with a smile. “Hmmm….perhaps.” Celeste wasn’t quite ready to reveal what she was teaching. Just a few more moments to wait on the last minute stragglers. Quote:

Taking her seat at the desk - Maxine waiting anxiously for class to start - She didn't even see the Professor at first so she began to look around for her. Another seventh year joined the mix, one that seemed to have decided to remain quiet at the moment. Which was just fine for Professor Gert. She quite sympathized with feeling the need to not engage all the time, having not been the most outgoing during her own years at Hogwarts. Besides paticipation mattered more when class was actually in session. Just a touch longer. Quote:

At least until OWLs, and there was a whole term til she needed to concern herself with those.
Therefore, it was a relatively unbothered brunette who had climbed the interminable steps to the tower, possibly a bit after the others but fashionably late and all. Not actually late, though. She respected the professor enough not to do that, and there might have been a bit of a glance toward Archie as the third year still seemed to be having trouble catching his breath. It wasn’t that bad. “Good evening, Professor Gert”, she said after returning her gaze to the rest of the classroom and therefore the professor herself. Who was decidedly appearing human, it seemed. “The sky seems clear tonight.” There wouldn’t be any trouble seeing the stars, anyhow, which was her only intent as she chose a seat at one of the open desks. No other hidden subtext, nor did she feel it was needed. Finally the fourth year Slytherin rounded the class up. “Guid evening, Ms. Barrington,” she said, returning the girl’s greeting. “Aye…tis indeed,” Celeste confirmed. “We are quite blessed this evening.” Made the lesson she had planned much easier to get across. Not that she didn’t have contigency plans in case nature wasn’t on her side. Speaking of which… “An’ let us begin,” she said, gathering all their attention while closing the door to the classroom with a wave of her hand. “I noticed some of ye had been looking around as if curious if ye cuid figure out what tonight’s lesson wuid be on,” Celeste remarked as she came to stand before her desk, leaning ever so slightly on her hands that rested on the desk’s surface behind her. ”But as ye can see there is nothing INSIDE th’classroom.” Well unless one considered that the telescope centered in the room was aimed at a specific location that she had placed it in earlier in the day in case it was needed. “Outside oor classroom tis a different matter,” the astronomy matter mused as she straightened and slowly crossed to an archway opposite of the one she had stationed herself to begin with. “Fur the topic of today’s class tis right there in the night sky in one shape or form even when we can’t clearly see them. Much like the clues some of you were looking for.Celeste let her gaze pass across all the gathered students as she drifted off. “An nae not the moon.” Something made clear by her use of the plural. And she’d already taught a few things about the lunar body in question in previous lessons since coming to Hogwarts. “Anyone care tae take a guess noo?” ooc: Thank you all for coming. Class has begun. We will move on in about 36 hours or so.
