Brandon need not worry about an apology, she wasn’t criticising him for his out-of-box thinking. It was more so the combination of his answer and his odd behaviour that had the Professor stumped for a minute or two. Thankfully it hadn’t prevented the student from continuously participating in the lesson. “Excellent. By having an international body with representatives from each of the nations, the community is able to handle disputes and conflicts that affect the community as a whole. It also allows everyone to have a voice which is critically important don’t you think?”

There were a few things she knew about the International Confederation of Wizards and she thought she could tackle this question without too much of an issue. "I think they handle all the sports and international magical games, right?" If it was something she had read in one of her textbooks before or heard about at some point, she couldn't remember but the fact of the matter was, she was trying her best.

“To add to what Bry said about international events, the ICW also offers feedback on magical gatherings and meetings.”
Of course the community's favourite sport would come into fruition as a suggestion from a student or two. Personally Apollonia never saw the appeal in her feet leaving the ground but each to their own she supposed. “That’s right. The International Confederation of Wizards Quidditch Committee is responsible for overseeing international quidditch games namely the World Cup. Although arguably not as important as overseeing legislation, they do help support policing of the events and scout for suitable locations.”

Which led onto Mr Atreyu-Rehman’s answer. “This of course could apply to any event with an international audience. It is vitally important that the statute of secrecy is implemented wherever the event may be based. Rather amusingly they have also attempted to restrict the size and dietary requirements of mascots at events just in case a muggle was to spot something peculiar wandering around their countryside.”

No contribution from you still Mr Duck? Fergersnout would be keeping her eye on him.

"Apprehend isn't necessarily the right word, but moreso in general deal with and set trials for world-renowned criminals at large. The key example being when they attempted to extradite Gellert Grindelwald back in 1926 or 1927 for a trial back in Europe."
Fergersnout did have a habit of doing that. Once she was directed onto a topic of great interest it all sort of spilled out in a giant word vomit but at least she wasn’t drab and boring like some of her predecessors. “Yes, the transfer of criminals from one country to another to stand trial is certainly of great importance to the confederation. Grindelwald himself caused a bit of a headache to the ICW in that he managed to escape from their custody.” Once again that was a topic for another lesson.

Maria listened to the answers to the next question as her peers said them trying to come up with one that wasn't taken. Raising her hand Maria eventually said when there was a pause in responses. "The ICW also conceals magical creatures from muggles. When there were yeti sightings in Tibet by non magical folk for example the ICW sent an international task force there to enforce the statue of secrecy when Tibet's government according to the ICW wasn't up to the task to do that." The ICW also promoted peace, security, and cooperation in all nations in the wizarding world.
She waited a second for any further responses when the last came in. “Not every nation has the same time, resources and availability to deal with issues as we do. The ICW are able to send out their own task forces to aid and support in this mission as was the case in Tibet.”

The lull in answers came and after waiting for a second or two and glancing around for any raised hands, she spoke again. “As you can tell from your fellow students, the reasons for the formation of the International Confederation of Wizards is plentiful. Not only do they formate legislation but they play a supporting role in aiding other nations, keeping the peace and ensuring that the Statute of Secrecy is maintained. The conferences themselves are the opportunity to discuss important matters relevant to the community.”

“You may all be wondering why the classroom has been laid out like this and if you haven’t noticed the difference.. well I think you need to work on your observational skills” she chuckled. “I could continue to talk about the confederation in great detail or we could hold a conference of our own. The classroom is an exact replication of the Hemel Hempstead conference of 1995. This was during the return of He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named and so you can imagine the interesting conversations to be had, even if the Ministry themselves were in denial.”

“I’d like you to think of the issues currently in our community that you personally think should be discussed at the next conference. It could be to do with a certain creature’s rights or perhaps you think House Elves should be replaced by magical robots? You can do this by yourself, in pairs, in a group, it doesn’t matter. Once you’ve come up with a list of your ideas, jot them down on your parchments and place them into here.” From behind her desk Fergersnout produced a small scale replica of the Goblet of Fire, an acquisition of her own personal collection she just happened to own. “Once we’ve collected them all, the goblet will spit out a topic or two for us to have a little debate over.” Could the students hear the excitement in her voice? There was nothing more fun than an intellectual argument!

“You have around 10 minutes.” Chop chop young soya beans!

OOC: Onto the mini activity! Feel free for your characters to be as bizarre as they want with the topics, just so long as you stick to site rules. I’ll move on in around 48 hours.
