As she remembered Maria raised her hand, and answered with a smile pursing her lips "There is the International Confederation of Wizards. It’s an international governing body that oversees all wizarding countries in the wizarding world my dad's have said."
It didn’t take long for the answers to come in thick and fast starting with the most widely governing organisation of them all.
“That is correct.” she nodded at the Hufflepuff. She’ll elaborate further on that subject matter in a short while but for now she turned back to the other students and their ideas.

Her dad used to work there many years ago! The more she thought about it, the more the founding date stuck in her mind. She wondered what was the French governing body before that, and did the French Revolution have something to do with the Ministère’s establishment?
These were the responses that she was most expecting, in fact she was surprised that their very own Ministry of Magic hadn’t been the first that the students had jumped to considering it was perhaps the best known to them.
“Yes, the equivalent of our ministry located in their capital city Paris. Its founding date is a little late compared to its international counterparts.” It was not something that Fergersnout had studied extensively on and therefore couldn’t comment on the reason being. Perhaps she’d research later.

And he left it at that, before his lungs found too much to complain about.
The Board of Governers had a bit of a turbulent history when it came to its relationship with Hogwarts and opinion seemed to be divided over its existence.
“Wonderful. Governing bodies don’t just affect legislation across an entire country but can occur on the smaller scale too. The BoG..” An amusing acronym in her opinion.
“..was established to help regulate our very own Hogwarts ensuring quality education and preserving the safety of its students.” Which judging by the track record of events that
had occurred in the school, the success of that mission was questionable.

Fergersnout herself led the debate team alongside their esteemed Headmaster Winterbottom so any mention of her treasured club was likely to receive a smile in response.
“We do have a fantastic debate team here however they don’t unfortunately have an influence over rules and regulations at Hogwarts.. not yet anyway.” The formation of a student council wasn’t entirely a bad idea, it would always be interesting to hear the opinions of the students on the matters that affected them personally.

It's led by a President, not a Minister. And all of the representatives are elected. American muggles are governed by a Congress too, but they have two different bodies while the magical congress only has one." She knew a fair bit about the government because her dad was a lawyer, but she figured the professor wasn't looking for every detail she knew so she left it at that.
Another answer that she was somewhat expecting, the most well known of the governments with the exception of their own.
“Yes, that's right. Although the name and structure of MACUSA is different to our Ministry, the concept is virtually the same. Although interestingly their headquarters are not located in the capital but rather in New York.” The reasons for that decision were not relevant enough to the lesson to discuss.

Luckily for Solomon, Fergersnout was willing to let the brief whispery chitchat slide on this occasion. He did receive a quick glance in his direction, a warning if you must that any further gossiping would not be exempt from penalisation.

Don’t worry Aryan, Fergersnout herself didn’t know what strange name was going to come out of her mouth either. There was no true rhyme or reason behind the object, animal or food source of the day other than that it was the first thing that popped into her head.
“Mhmm. The Wizengamot is the British court system far out dating the conceptualisation of the Ministry. It’s responsible for trialing crimes of a lesser extent and headed by the Chief Warlock.” There was another court for the more heinous crimes but she would keep that a secret for the time being in case someone wanted to mention it.

Like how they governed his choice of a side, or how people all followed certain unspoken rules because of what had mutually been decided as moral or correct.
Truthfully Fergersnout was briefly taken aback by the next students answer to the extent that she remained in silence for a couple of seconds whilst she processed it.
“Although true to a certain extent that we may be influenced by the others around us, not quite the answer I was looking for Mr Fox.” She was a little concerned about the boys behaviour today though.
“However if something is troubling you feel free to pop by my office after lesson has ended and we can have a little chat.” If he wanted to of course, she wasn’t pressuring him into anything.

After a second of sitting on things, Archie would then finally draw his conclusion, and raise his hand before speaking it "There's the Spanish Ministry; pardon me if I get this wrong because my Spanish is not up to par. But, I believe it's called Ministeria de Magia de Espana." It was most likely the wrong way of saying it. But, an answer was an answer, and that was the best he had for now.
Another example of a foreign Ministry equivalent to their own. Fergersnout nodded in agreement with the answer.
“Correct.” And no concerns over whether the accent was correct for she was no expert in the language anyway.
“I cannot comment on your pronunciation, sadly I am not fluent but it sounded great to me” she chortled. Sometimes she wondered whether international relations should be a subject at Hogwarts, it would be an interesting one for sure.

The train of thought regarding quidditch was fueled a bit by Maria's answer about the International Confederation of Wizards. Anna had done just a little bit of reading about the sport after their field trip into the Forbidden Forest and speaking with little Eliza. She she thought about sharing about what little she had read about the International Confederation of Wizards' Quidditch Committee ... but.... alas, her thoughts continued to tumble and somersault about to fanciful fantasies used to fill in the gaps of her lineage rather irrationally. Sure, the floating emblem above them was surely meant to be a hint about things...but let's just say if it had been a basilisk then this Hufflepuffle would have been petrified. "There is the Consortium of Goblinary Finance & Red-Nosed Wizard Investors!" she offered with a chirp.
As was the case with Solomon, any further whispers were largely ignored by the Professor until such time that they became disruptive to the rest of the class. If Anna wanted to believe that she was possessed by the spirit of a dark artefact then that was her prerogative although she was
slightly offended. Thankfully the Hufflepuff did partake in the rest of the lesson and so all was quickly forgiven.
“Fabulous! The Consortium was established to register and regulate Gringotts Wizarding Bank and is largely comprised of Goblin Bankers and investors.” Goblins were a subject she had written a number of publications over and could speak on the matter for hours. Luckily for the students the lesson needed moving on.

Finally, after a bit of thinking, he settled on one and raised his hand. "There was the Wizards' Council that we had here for several centuries before it was disbanded and replaced in the early 1700s."
She was surprised that no one had yet claimed the Ministry as their answer but this one was the closest.
“That’s right. The Wizards Council was the predecessor to the Ministry of Magic and operated for centuries before the latter was established as the more complex structure needed to govern new legislation.” More on that subject to come later. The Professor was also gratefully oblivious to any teenage drama that was currently occurring in her classroom.
