On the edge of the grounds, near the border of the Forbidden Forest, lies the Groundskeeper's Hut, which this year has a new tenant. Professor DeVries was more than happy to exchange his library duties for a chance to spend even more time in the outdoors. Now he's looking forward to spending his office hours, off days, and evenings there, relishing the smells and sounds and the peaceful atmosphere out on the grounds. And he's already made some changes--a few coats of white paint have given the hut the look of an old-time Dutch cottage, and there are a number of new flowerbeds surrounding the hut. Some patches are already planted with seeds and bulbs just waiting for the coolness of fall to pop up their heads. Others lie empty for now, but you can be sure there will be new plants growing every season of the year. But Professor DeVries intends to keep the garden of potion ingredients planted there to the side of the hut by his predecessor, Javier Hernandez--Tapio always did admire that and he can't wait to add to it.

Attached to the back of the hut via a small hallway stands the cozy little cabin office that used to lie nestled among the trees near the Greenhouses. Tapio is fond of it, so he moved it down here to his new quarters (How did he do this? What, do you think a wizard can't do such things? Do you believe in magic, or what?). Here he has plenty of room to put all his books and journals and his large, natural wood desk, on which is a treasured hybrid plant given to him by a graduating student. And if you look closely, you just might spy Fred lurking about (because apparently Fred refused to be left behind and decided to move, too).

Professor DeVries is not nearly as intimidating as he looks, so feel free to knock on the door and come in if you need something (just don't damage the plants).
