Brooksie's eyes brightened instantly as he popped up on his toes, inching toward the shopkeeper with a few little bounces.

"Is this it, is this it??" the box was even exciting for the small brunette. Eagerly, he plucked the wand from it's casing, inspecting it suuuuuper closely, turning it over in his hands carefully before giving a full grin back at his parents and sisters, not daring to wait another moment before giving it a good swish.

Instantly, the wand emitted a bright white light as a spark jolted above him, the light bobbing for a moment before erupting into a small firework, making a crackling noise as little lights danced around him.

WOOOOAHHH.

Saying that his smile stretched wider than it ever had before was putting it lightly. He'd be feeling this for days to come. "How'd you know this one was mine?" Could HE pick one for other people some day? HOW COOL.

Bouncy bouncy bounCY.

It was all Zeke could do not to chuckle at the boy's enthusiasm there and then. Was this it? He was almost as eager to know. Almost. Zeke didn't think for a moment that his eagerness could overshadow this moment of being matched with a first ever wand.

He didn't have an answer for the boy, but, of course, the wand itself did. Zeke clapped his hands once in appreciation, and was about to say something along the lines of how it seems it was the right wand after all, when the boy beat him to it.

Now Zeke really did chuckle. "As much as I'd like to say I get them all right first time, sometimes there is an element of trial and error too. But having a keen understanding of those measurements certainly pointed us in the right direction, no?"

With all the confirmation necessary that they had indeed found that first wand, Zeke gave a broad smile and started on detailing the specifications.

"Now then, this wand is thirteen and a half inches of solid red oak, with a griffin claw core. A very strong and powerful wand wood, and this type in particular tends to be drawn to those -" Passionate... and hot-tempered, at times, individuals... "- who have very quick reactions. An excellent duelling wand, should you feel inspired by that particular area of magic. Its ideal master is quick-witted and adaptable, which makes sense, with the duelling aspect. Many agree that an oak wielder is ideal to have beside you in a fight." They never - or rarely - backed down. Hm. But perhaps best not to give ideas; you never could tell which customers were the type to go seek out a fight or duel for this very reason. Not that Zeke assumed as much from this boy. "Oak wand owners make excellent leaders, intuitive, strong, and admired by many. And it's well suited to protective and defensive magic." Perhaps that went without saying, but Zeke, naturally, said it anyway. "With a griffin claw core, you'll likely find delicate wand movements are more natural, and protection spells and shields will be some of the easiest spells for you to master. This is a core for noble-hearted individuals, and is ill-suited to the dark arts or nefarious endeavours. It will bond very closely with you, its original owner, and so will not be easy to pass on to another, should the occasion arise."

So there he had it, his new wand. Zeke smiled and offered the box again, so that the wand might be properly packaged and rung up at the cash register. "The wand by itself is 12 galleons, and we have other products and services you may be interested in, too."

Not that she’d fully understand, but she tried to absorb as many English words as she could. In new moments like these, her mind went blank and only alarms blared in her head.

Panic kicking in, she gripped the strap of her cross-body bag and shot a glance at her aunt. The older woman translated what the man said and Yulietta nodded in understanding. Gently picking up the wand, she tried to will her hand to stop trembling but that was like asking the sun not to shine. She gave it a soft wave, not expecting anything extraordinary to happen, but it did. The wand glowed. It glowed to the point of causing her eyes to squint. The light was bright and warm. It took her by surprise, causing her to drop the wand as she started.

“Lo siento!” she said in her native language, meaning I am sorry. Was she in trouble?

Generally speaking, Zeke prided himself on being observant, and he knew that he really was. Still. Some things slipped by him, especially things not directly related to wands, and so in spite of the signs of alarm in his young customer when he first spoke, it took hearing the translation by one of her chaperones for the likely reason to properly click. Ah. Right.

No matter, he could adjust, and he could do so without any fanfare or calling attention to said adjustments.

"Está bien," Zeke said gently, stooping to retrieve the wand and holding it out again, smiling slightly. It's okay. He didn't need her to try the wand again, though. It was quite clear, perhaps to all present, that they'd found the right one. "This is it. This is your wand," he added, in English now, but perhaps a shade slower and more deliberate than he had spoken before.

There was a pause, then, as Zeke considered. He did know his Spanish, to a degree, but there was no chance of him reeling off magical characteristics in anything but English. This customer had adults who could, of course, likely translate and remember these details for her, but Zeke thought important to provide the information - exactly as he spoke it - so that she might have it for later. This was operating, however, on the assumption that she intended to learn, or improve, her own English.

And so he gave a flick of his own wand to summon a piece of parchment and a quill, to which he dictated the wand's specifications as he spoke them to his customer and her chaperones. "This wand is eleven inches and one third of balanced cherry, with an augurey feather at its core. Cherry is a highly-prized and beautiful wood, if I do say so myself, and self-control and strong will are a must for those who wield it." Important that, because cherry could be fairly lethal in what it could do with the magic produced. Perhaps surprisingly so. "This wood is excellent for healing spells, binding spells, and divination, and, additionally, many herbology enthusiasts find it to be a suitable wand. As for the core, augurey feather wands are very selective about who they choose, and make for very loyal wands. It has a curious characteristic, too, of becoming especially responsive, particularly with non-verbal magic, on any day that rain is due to fall. Augurey feather wands are also well-suited to divination magic, as well as charms, particularly those spells that silence, or that raise the alarm."

Did it get all that? Zeke paused to read over the parchment, dismissed the quill, and handed it over to his customer with a smile, then addressed both her and the adults who accompanied her. "12 galleons for the wand by itself, and we also have some products and services that you may be interested in, too."

Or maybe it was just that she was having a hard time dealing with the idea that her baby sister was old enough to be getting her wand and going to Hogwarts, but either way, Stasya had jumped at the offer to be the one to take Persie to get her school supplies. Luckily she had been around, actually, not back in Norway, but the blonde former Gryffindor had very much not wanted to miss this. It was nearly like watching her own girls getting their wands, but Kestrel and Linnet were far from that eventuality. The two-year-olds were with Koen for the day, giving her the chance for one-on-one time with her sister.

Not that she hadn’t considered bringing the girls along, but she didn’t get a lot of Persie time since she wasn’t always in the country. Not that she regretted her choice one bit. (okay maybe a little but it was more due to seeing Demyan appearing to follow in their dad’s footsteps instead of letting Chase in like she herself had)

But now was Persie time, as she stood aside to let the ickle blonde take her line in the queue.

It was WAND TIME! Persephone Linnea Ward was getting her wand finally, and she was barely holding back the excited shivers as she glanced back at where her sister was waiting. It didn’t matter that she wasn’t actually her full sister. Persie very much chose not to acknowledge the half-sister status because it didn’t matter. Stasya and Demyan were her siblings and that was that. Even if Papa wasn’t their actual dad.

But back to getting her wand, and she’d let her big blue eyes scan over the other kids as they’d gotten their turn. It was fascinating and she wasn’t going to allow herself to be nervous. Even if she didn’t think she saw anyone around from the junior Gobstones camp. She wasn’t alone.

She held back at asking the measuring tape any questions as it began to do whatever it felt was necessary. Mama would’ve told her if it was scary. Or Stas would’ve, or Koen, or Papa. She figured they all survived it so she could too. Besides, it was all for getting her WAND. That couldn’t be scary.

"Hello there," Zeke greeted this next customer, emerging from some shelves with a wand box in either hand and a smile on his face. He'd been doing a little tidying around the shop when this newest customer's measurements - or, rather, the parchment they were written on - came to find him. It had only made sense, therefore, to pick out some prime candidates right away.

And now he was here, smiling broadly at the girl who had come to be fitted with a new wand. "Let's see if we can't find you a wand, hm?" Zeke said, setting one of the boxes down and opening up the other. There was nothing to say that the wand that chose this girl would definitely be in either box. If it wasn't it would help direct him to the right one, but Zeke was feeling confident.

He held out the open wand box, offering the wand inside it to the girl. "Just give it a wave, and tell me if it feels like the one."
