Yasmin watched as her nieces played together in the snow. Aria and Anya were quite a sight to behold in their matching neon puffers and bright colored hats, their laughter a force that the wind carried every which way. When the two of them trudged back up to the top of the driveway, very little could stop them from sleighing back down to the bottom of the hill for what must have been the seventh time. Yet, despite the repetition, they found more to laugh about.

Yassi envied the simplicity that came with their lives. But more than that, she envied Rod for the little family he created with his wife. It was difficult, watching her younger brother live the life she had always wanted, but could never have. And maybe it was too soon to write off the possibility, but Yasmin had given up hope a long time ago.
