~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ Claimed by Bits ❤️ ~ Queen of Typos ❄ Magical Mosh Pit ❄ Prompt #16: Plum Pudding {173 words}
It didn’t make sense at all. “Why is it called ‘Plum Pudding’ if there are no plums?” Ary spoke clearly and deliberately into his phone, too lazy to type the question into the search engine. All his life, he had been eating the confectionery; every Christmas it was served and never had he ever paused to entertain the possibility that there were no plums in this particular pudding.
The answer came back almost at once, the automated voice narrating: This goes back to the Victorian practice of substituting dried plums with other dried fruits, such as raisins. Dried plums or prunes were so popular that any goods which contained dried fruits were referred to as 'plum cakes' or 'plum puddings'. “Interesting and weird,” the twelve year old muttered. He set aside his phone, his gaze affixed on the small slice of freshly baked plum pudding sitting on a plate. “It doesn’t matter though. As long as it tastes delicious.” Picking up a fork, Ary delved into the festive delicacy.
