You know what Valentine's Day, Birthdays, and Christmas all have in common? They are all consumer holidays created with the sole function to finance the Owl Post Office and, somehow, everyone just bought into it without even batting an eye. Not a single protest! The corporations are winning! Big Owl monopoly lives to see another day! Call Alexander a cynic or a scrooge or whatever else you want, but this is the society we live in and it is utterly disappointing.

Bah humbug.

For the record, he still bought presents and expected them in return. (a) Because if he were buying presents then it is only fair that he receive them from others as a form of gracious thanks. And (b) because he knew some people (namely his brother, Benji) would throw some sort of fit if he weren't to receive a Christmas present.

Let the record show that Alex Stylinson isn't another cog in the machine - he simply does not care to hear his brother whine.
