What if he was misreading everything? What if those twelve fail-safe ways hadn't been charming enough?
At this point, a voice in his head told him to use his common sense. The warmth, whether it was simply from the blanket or the two of them being shoulder to shoulder or a combination of both, was clearly a good sign. Still, the blond did not move a muscle. However, when the "Magic Dance" number came to an end and the next scene began, he shifted in his seat just a little. For a moment, it would appear that he was drifting away slightly, but the seconds that followed were of him moving his arm so that it could reach behind the brunette.
Ahem. Oh, right. They had been talking about those weird-looking goblins and everything that was happening on the screen. "Maybe. They were probably told by someone that goblins are hideous, and that's what they came up with." The commentary that followed resulted in him remaining silent for a few moments, considering all the possible options for everything they had just witnessed. "Doesn't seem like the Imperious Curse. Maybe Tarantallegra? Or randomly bursting out in song and dance is what they do in his kingdom." This world certainly was weird enough that he wouldn't put it past them to do such a thing.
His attention returned to the screen. Logan had clearly missed something because Sarah was now falling down some sort of hole lined with sentient hands? A look of puzzlement appeared on his face, but it did shift rather quickly when Vera mentioned that she'd sell her morals for jewelry. "Well, if a shiny plastic bracelet is all that's needed to win you over, then that'll make things so much easier," he snickered seconds before the Goblin King appeared yet again and a bizarre-looking machine started chasing after after Sarah and Hoggle.
Despite the hesitancy she was having about nearly all of the characters of this movie thus far, it was entertaining and Vera was having a hard time not being drawn into it. She was acutely aware of how close they were, but it was comfortable - it felt right, in a sense. So it was easy to just get used to it in a way and enjoy the closeness. Except when he moved, it
did catch her notice, the sudden lose of warmth caused the slightest frown. She had a fraction of a moment to consider if this was a rejection of sorts and if she should move as well, except before she could do so he was close again, but this time his arm behind her. Frown was gone, as it felt like billywigs were suddenly floating around her stomach. She didn't want to alarm him by drawing too much attention to the movement, but she also wanted to give some encouragement as she shot a quick smile Logan's way before adjusting in the new position to get comfortable.
It took a minute to find her previous train of thought again on the movie as her eyes focused on it once more. Whatever else she could have said about or in defense of the goblins was all but forgotten, but she was able to jump back on about the odd song and dance scene. (which as much as she was picking at it, she did probably enjoy it the most so far.)
"How could I have forgot Tarantallegra! That would make sooo much sense!" it certainly made more sense than just... the desire to sing and dance all the time for no reason. Although, perhaps they'd all had their juices spiked with a potion that created the same thing?
... Or maybe she was also thinking way too much magic in a muggle movie.
The hands were pretty creepy, if one asked her. The way they formed different faces when they were talking. She wasn't sorry to see that scene end, even if once more it left her to marvel for a moment at the oddity of it having been included at all. Hearing Logan's response to her comment certainly piqued her curiosity - but she decided to not take it too seriously, instead matching his tone in her own response.
"What can I say, I'm a simple girl. It's much easier to not overthink when it comes to me." Which his comment almost insinuated to her that's what he was doing, though that could have perhaps been more hopeful than anything else.
She was unsurprised to see Hoggle bounce once more, but then there was a giant furry addition to the cast. At least the Sarah girl had the good sense to show
some compassion to a creature. Though any goodwill she might have garnered from the brunette viewer was gone again when she shoved the ring back into the poor doors mouth. Couldn't she have knocked and then removed the ring again when it opened?
