He wondered if perhaps when he asked her to stay she might've also assumed he would take advantage of her kindness in helping and staying. But her staying was already agreed prior to his babies coming into the picture.
A frown appeared as Darius felt genuinely sad at the thought of her running off. Something that all three happened to share in common, getting away when they don't belong or feel wanted. "I don't want you to leave Aria. I just want you to tell me each time you feel neglected... I know that's odd of me to ask when I've done the leaving before," So he knew all too well where she was coming with that. "Obviously, I can't drop everything at any exact moment but I would try to make more time for you even more so." Holding a hand out with the pinky extended, "I promise as long as you promise to hold me accountable and help me with the time," As much as he could for now. "Does that sound okay?"
There.
Aria had said it. And you know what? It felt like a giant amount of weight had lifted from her. This realisation actually had her wondering why she hadn’t been forthcoming with her feelings in the first place. Hmm, maybe this was a learning experience. But that was a thought for dwelling upon later as Aria was far too busy glaring at Darius, even after he said she wasn’t being replaced.
She chose to remain silent and glaring, which was a good thing since brother dearest had more to say. Her eyes narrowed again; yes, he was the one who did the leaving. Not so nice to be on the receiving end of that, was it, Darius? Still, his words did help to chip away at her bad temper further. Her glare dissolved. “I know it’s not your fault you’re so busy. And it certainly wasn’t your fault about my outburst. I’m sorry too.” Aria met Dar’s pinky with hers. “Of course,’’ she continued, a hint of humour returning to her voice. “I’ll fully believe it when I see your actions match your words.” She trusted him though. “I promise. And I also promise to let you know when you get too busy for me. But you need to tell me what’s up with you and Caes. I bet I can help!” |
