The latter was tempting, given she didn't really want to encroach on his personal space again, or look stupid (feel stupid) if it failed a second time.
She glanced over her shoulder, for a moment convinced that someone was watching her feeble attempts to wake the boy and laughing. Of course no one was, but she still felt a weird, lingering insecurity.
Which was only tempered slightly when she turned back and he was properly awake. As for his question - Betony shrugged, a slightly blush decorating her freckled cheeks. "I... I don't really know," she answered apologetically, making no move to sit down just yet. "I've only just come over, so... But I don't think it was that long?"
Her face told him that she had no clue, though. His attempt to dry off the page of his textbook did more harm than good. The page wound up smudged and torn. Luckily the blond was not your stereotypical Ravenclaw, who probably would have made an entire ordeal about such a thing happening to a book. Instead, he gave up on the patting and let it be. Hopefully there weren't many questions about the Chipping Clodbury Riot on the History of Magic OWL exam this year.
Blue eyes glanced over to Betony when her cheeks started to blush. Any other person probably would have noticed and made a comment, but not this Gryffindor. Had she been someone else, maybe things would have been different.
"Oh." At this point he wasn't sure if he should apologize or not, considering she had just got to the nook. And the fact that this part of the common room wasn't exactly popular and had been empty when he had arrived there left him to believe he hadn't disturbed anyone else. Hmm. "Well ... feel free to grab a seat. Maybe someone around will keep me from falling asleep again," he laughed.
