Open! Dripping in sweat and red faced, Hooper Ridley-Rush stood at the end of the bridge closest to the castle, his t-shirt sticking to him as though someone had thrown a bucket of water at him. Running his hands through his hair to move it from out his face, he stood and peered over the side of the bridge, down into the chasm below as he caught his breath for a moment. Despite the beauty of the foggy ravine this early in the morning, it wasn’t really the reason as to why he was out so early. Ever since the start of the year, he’d made it his morning routine to go jogging, but as the days grew shorter and the nights grew longer, it was becoming harder and harder for him to wake up early, roll out of bed and walk down from the Gryffindor common room and out into the grounds.
This morning however, he’d managed to make it up and out for his morning run, despite the November frost that clung to the grass and made the paths a little dicier. The actual run itself wasn’t nearly as hard as it had been at the beginning of the year. What was difficult was the temperature, which now that he’d stopped, was causing him to shiver as the sweat that had been dripping off him slowly cooled. He could easily pull out his wand and cast a spell to warm himself up, but that was too much effort for this sixth-year lion. |
