Mentions Sophia and the Professor Eating in silence, Sloane simply watched the others talk as she eat, each forkful of food improving her mood ever so slightly, but not enough to actually talk to anyone unless addressed directly. She wasn’t that rude, simply anti-social. As another forkful of food entered her mouth, she caught sight of an older girl (Sophia) looking at her, even offering a smile of sorts. Did she expect a smile back perhaps? Or for Sloane to introduce herself? Either way, neither of those things were going to happen. Instead, Sloane simply made an awkward amount of eye contact as she took another bite of her food and nodded, hoping this would appease the older girl. There. I recognised your smile and raised you a friendly nod.
Always observant, it didn’t take her long to notice that one of the teachers who was sitting at the front of the hall had decided to take a gander along the Slytherin table, although the reason why was abundantly clear once she started talking. This caused her to stop eating briefly so that she could pay slightly more attention, and for the most part, it wasn’t a waste of time. Sloane made a note of the name and the class that she taught and for the briefest of moments, was almost interested. Magical creatures, or just creatures in general, did interest her, if only because she enjoyed their lack of ability to talk. Her attention didn’t stay on the head of house for long however. She soon turned her attention back to her food. As far back as she could remember, she’d never seen so much food in one place, to the point where it almost seemed too much! How was it that they had so much food here and yet, they had had so little back home growing up? It didn’t seem fair. That hadn’t stopped her from finishing her first plate of food and grabbing for seconds, which was a first. Skewering a roast potato on her fork, she shoved it into her mouth and continued to eye the other children around her. |
