They were close in age with only 11 months between them. They were also close in the sense that they were often left to do things together as the twins were younger. “I’d hardly believe that you consider me your favourite brother though.” Was he?
His brother was also an expert at engaging others in conversation so he could silently judge rather than being forced to interject. Therefore he was quite useful to have around in the long run. As the two other boys conversed, Eli reopened his book to continue where he left off when he was dragged back into the land of mindless chatter over Dragons. Which admittedly was a topic that could pique his interested. The summer at the reserve HAD actually been one of the best experiences he had ever had and he allowed a small but brief smile graced his lips. “The Antipodean Opaleye.” For obvious reasons considering the family business drew their inspiration for their name from it. He highly doubted that Sammy was particularly knowledgeable over Dragon species so was actually intrigued to hear his answer. “Have you ever even seen a Dragon?” Hmm? Quote:

Eli looked like he didn't smile like, EVER. Which was upsetting. Maybe when he was reading about dragons. Everyone had to have SOMETHING they enjoyed, yes? "I don't collect them a lot but I think I might. Just for fun ya know?" he added. It was give him something to do in his free time now that they were in school! "Really?! That's so cool!" he said with a smile as Ezra told him about their uncle and his dragons. As for his favorite dragon, Sammy didn't have an answer for that. "Uhhh...the ones that breathe fire?" he answered, which he knew was EVERY dragon, but he didn't know the different types! He hadn't even been aware that there were different breeds of dragon until like, two years ago sooo.
Sammy blinked at him. Had he ever seen a dragon? Duh! Of course he had! "I've seen pictures," he replied, wondering why the boy would ask him such a silly question. "OHHH wait. You mean like in real life," he realized what Eli was actually asking a second later and shook his head. "No, never. I think I'd be kind of scared to. What if they turned on you and decided to barbecue you??" he asked. If a dragon decided it wanted to cook you for dinner he highly doubted one would have time to stop it from happening! Well.. that wasn't altogether true. Ezra did like his time alone – he'd had a blast watching the steam billow from the train, and he hadn't been expecting to stumble across Eli, and his friend here, but it would have been rude just to walk on by.
A smile from Ezra at that admission. “Well.. you're my closest brother.” He replied ambiguously. As much as he cared for Eli, he was a stubborn, uncompromising, grumpy goblin.
Most certainly grumpy.
Most definitely half goblin.
What was their mother not telling father? Hah.
Sammy seemed nice and friendly – a ray of sunshine, and he reminded him of the few friends he had left behind at Durmstrang. “No problem!” He nodded to the boy and grinned back over the offer of the chocolate frog cards. “You can have any more I get if you decide to collect them.” Which would be a TON because chocolate frogs were a favourite of Ezra's.
Ooh. Antipodean Opaleye was a good choice from Eli! And not just because of the dodgy family business's name... but he suspected why he chose it. “You're only saying that one because of the business.” Such a suck up to the Greenwood elders.
It had been the most extraordinary experience visiting the Dragon Reserve. Unky Nate was the luckiest man alive to have worked there in his youth. Ezra figured that Sammy wasn't too clued up on the different species of dragon given his reply, but that was fine. “Hey Eli, you should show Sammy your book.” He offered on his brother's behalf. Sharing is caring. “I like a Chinese Fireball. They're so cool looking.” He addressed the pair.
Back to Sammy again, his eyes widened at the thought of being barbecued by a dragon. “I love dragons but I'm not sure I'd like to work with them. You'd have to be very very brave to get close up to them unsupervised. But I'll admire them from afar.”
