She’d never really spent a lot of time with a load of children, let alone children that were also wizards. She’d obviously spent time with her siblings but that didn’t count. From her experience, other children were weird. They always talked too much and were kind of annoying, although that could have been because she was so used to her siblings being loud. She had to tolerate them so any time that she didn’t have to tolerate someone, she was pretty sure they knew it. “Okay, s’cool. I haven’t seen her b’come all skittish but I don’t really want to either, y’know?” she mumbled as she bent down towards the cage to get her out. After opening the cage door and stretching her arm out, Sloane waited patiently for Circe to flutter out onto her arm and then continued stroking her head. She loved Circe more than anything she’d ever owned, as much as you could own another living thing that is, and would do anything to keep her happy. “It’s nice t’meet you, Nadia” the look on her face not exactly a smile but it wasn’t hostile either as she sat opposite her now, the owl on her arm as if she were some kind of Bond villain. Circe eyed the girl, her head tilting to one side and eyed her for moment as Nadia said her name, but other than that, she gave no sign that the girl was there. “You’re older than me,” more of a statement than a question, “What year are you in?” Her tone of voice only contained a small trace of its usual curtness as she tried to sound as though she wasn’t interrogating Nadia, but she figured it was most likely a failed attempt. Truthfully, she was making an effort to seem nice, however most people always seemed to look at her silly no matter what. “Mhmm…” Nadia did know. She loved creatures but that didn’t mean she wanted to see them at their less than finest hours going all berserk. There had been a few times it had happened home on the reserve, even though her Papa and Daddy would try to keep them back and not to witness. Better to respect them at all costs, even if they aren’t hippogriffs requiring you to bow to keep yourself safe. Then you get to truly enjoy their company and human and creature could live in harmony.
She watched as the bird seemed to be giving her the once over, her hand in her bag searching to see if she had any treats. No creature was her own, but the Gryffindor did tend to have something for her sister’s lying around. Or any owl in the owlery for that matter when she went to visit. “Third year…” she answered, though it seemed almost as if the first two years had flown so fast. Was this what Raj had meant when he talked about his own full seven years? “How about you?” Nadia asked, returning the favor just as her touch happened on something. She could tell too that her companion was younger than her but she wasn’t about to assume just how much. Taking out her hand, the third year was happy that she had hit pay dirt, holding out the owl treat for Circe. Couldn’t hurt to get on the owl’s good side to help insure nice travels.
