She could wait for Zorth to arrive at their own, leisurely pace. It wasn't every day that they lived the nostalgia of back-to-school shopping together. And while Zor wasn't the sentimental type, it made her wife happy, so it made her happy too.
In other words: They would be taking their sweet time and Sloane would learn the sweet lesson of patience. Something that Zoryn, ironically, did not have much of herself. "She knows we need to be there to hand over the galleons, right?"
Once they arrived at the wand shop (which they did after walking SLOWLY - Zoryn had made sure of it) Z opened the door for her wife and stepped in after, setting a hand on Sloane's shoulder. Hey, kid. Miss us? "Looking a little sweaty, Sloane," she noted with a hidden, knowing smile. Look. Zor knew she was ANCIENT now, but she used to be a kid once. She remembered how it was. So embarrassing to be seen with adults. That's why she was going to make it her mission to be as embarrassing as possible. Right of passage and all. Jheeeeze. WHAT. WAS. TAKING. THEM. SO LONG! Let it be known that Sloane was a patient person, but these old people were taking foreeeeeveeeeer. Sure, she had run into the shop but she hadn’t run ahead that much, had she? After what felt like an eternity, they finally walked through the door at what Sloane could only describe as a snail’s pace. Still, they’d followed so that was something at least.
Sighing rather loudly, she let out a loud “Fiiiinally!” before hurriedly waking forward and grabbing Zoryn’s hand, she led her away from Faith, straight to the display case, not bothering to greet either of them. Not because she was being rude but because she simply needed to show one of them some of the wands on display and Zoryn was closer. The wands were so old and cool, somewhat like her new mothers guardians. “What do you mean, I look sweaty?” her eyes now on the display case, looking for the wand she wanted to point out to her before they moved to the counter to hopefully get her a wand. Squinting, she leaned closer to the display, her eyes quickly moving from wand to wand, trying to find the really, really cool old one that was on display that she simply loved the look of. Finally, after a minute of murmuring, she turned towards Zoryn and jabbed her finger at the case, a little too haphazardly, but nothing fell so… “Look! There! Do you think I could get one like that one,” she gestured, her finger pointing towards one of the wands made of acacia. “I don’t really know if I get to choose or…do you choose for me?,” her grey eyes moving back to Zoryn. For the briefest of moments, all of the guards that she’d built since she was old enough to hide how she was feeling had dropped, leaving her with an expression somewhere between childlike innocence and excitement. This only lasted for the briefest of moments however as she turned away, not wanting to look at her guardian. Feeling all sorts of embarrassed and ashamed, she admitted under her breath “No one told me how I get a wand or nothing like that.”
She should have asked Mika or one of her older siblings about it, but never had! Why hadn’t she asked him before? Trying her best to cover it up, she dropped Zoryn’s hand and focused on the wands, leaning in closely to examine one of the acacia wands closer to hide her face. |
