No, it wouldn’t do her any good to sit around doing nothing in the hopes that they would be gone in a blink of an eye. So, despite annoying Kennedy {okay, he wasn’t so annoying anymore} wanting to hang around with her, she had wasting no time in dragging him along to Madam Primpernelle’s for a Pimple Poofer.
Nova snuck a look at the boy at her side, trying to decide if she had annoyed him because she determinedly brought them here before any other stop in Diagon Alley. It was okay if he was mad with her; Nova didn’t care very much. She sort of figured out that he was immune to her sarcasm and attitude and what other negative traits she may have. “Remember, Pimple Poofer is what we’re looking for,’’ Nova reminded Kennedy, her gaze moving back to the shelves.
So why was Kennedy giving Nova the time of day despite her proclaiming he should stay away multiple times? Well, she seemed to be coming around to him... with conditions. Conditions he decided to go along with. He liked her. Why he liked her? She had something not many other girls did. A drive. That sometimes he wanted to take control of the wheel but for her benefit. It was the convincing it was for her benefit that was the trouble. So it did take him a bit to accept her having the wheel, for now.
Kennedy sighed. Was it of annoyance or relief? That could be why Nova snuck a look at him. He chanced a look, just as when she happened to turn away. "Sure, sure." Pimple cream. He had some remedies. But Nova didn't like the idea of dunking her face into some sap that smelled of doxy dung. As they walked along the shelf he reached out for one, "You sure you don't also want some cream for the warts? Or was it blackheads you said?" He might not have lowered his volume enough with this question. "Oh, how about this Old-No-More? Didn't you say you wish you didn't have those winkles around your eyes when you smile? I think you look fine with them," He smiled to make sure his eyes crinkled as well. |
