Truly, one had to be to put up with his ineptness and overall snail's pace when it came to relationships and intimacy. And that was not even including his hyper fixations on interests and his work schedule that kept nuance zipping right over his head like a golden snitch teasing a seeker. She had taught him how to appreciate color...and one very specific shade of red. "I mean...well..." he continued as he brought himself back down from the clouds he had been floating in and rubbed the back of his neck. "...your social circles were quite different while we were all at Hogwarts, I think. She was in Ravenclaw like me, however." In case that was additional context that helped. Ultimately though...it really was okay if she did not recall who Olivia was. It was like, well, it wasn't like he knew everyone in her life either.

...which...well...the phantom ache could knock it off any minute now.

Cooper ceased rubbing his neck and leaned forward slightly instead, his elbow now resting on his knees without slouching forward too much, and turned his attention properly, undividedly, back to her. "Thanks, Florrie," he added with a smile. "And...what about you? Are you still...um...what occupies your attention these days?" It was a horrendous way to ask about how she was doing, if she had missed him at all, what all she was up to...but he still found himself humbly tonguetied in her presence.
Extraordinary.

There was a pang in Florrie's gut at that word, and the look that came over Coopers face. It wasn't longing for him, or at least not specifically: it was a longing to have someone feel that way about her. She didn't really care for the additional context, but kept up her smile and nodded as the boy man opposite her spoke, internally working to bury feelings that she didn't want to acknowledge. She didn't need anyone to feel like that about her. She had everything.

"I'm still working at WHiM," Florrie said nonchalantly, though pride flickered across her face at the ability to say that. It was lucky that her workplace was so interesting, because it meant that she didn't have to talk about her other streams of income. Which, well, Cooper knew all too much about, but she was hoping they could brush past it. "Not much else to say. Everything is... same old."

It sounded lame, when she said it like that, and Florrie fought the anger she felt at herself. "Life's great, yeah." Her addition felt rather forced, and she wasn't even sure why. What else was she supposed to say?
