The former Hufflepuff listened intently as Evan described the places he had gone to during his gap year. Needless to say, he was a bit jealous. Travel hadn't been something he personally had done much of in his life, at least beyond the United Kingdom. "Sounds amazing. What's Japan like?" It was one of several places he wanted to visit at some point.
Another nod of his head happened at starting a group regardless. It certainly would make the task of studying more enjoyable and have people to bounce thoughts off of. "I'm taking a history class focused on Wizarding Wars, Elemental Charms, Potions and Enchantment Synergy, and Enchanted Photography. Have you selected yours already?" Evan was a big fan of the arts as well, but he had not been blessed with any type of natural talent so he pretty much stuck to admiring what his friends could create. The fact Ash now had art shows hosted that he could drop in on was perhaps one of his favorite social outings. "That makes sense. It's interesting how something small like that when we're a kid can then influence so much of our life later on." Like... how did a kid do something once and then it became such an integral part of personality? That was always an interesting thing to Evan.
He couldn't help the small smile thinking back on Japan, though truthfully most of what he'd seen had been parks and other places he thought his nieces might enjoy going to. "It was wonderful. We went a couple times during the year so I got to experience a few of their seasons. Cherry blossoms truly are as lovely as everyone says they are. And the winter was colder than I had expected. I didn't do too much sight seeing, but my brother seems to have decided to live there with his family so.. I'm sure I'll go back soon enough and get to see more." Which reminded him, he should make a list of places he was interested in seeing. "You should go sometime as well. I imagine you'd enjoy it and all the photographs you could capture there."
Evan had seen the notice for the Wizarding War class and while he knew for his major he'd need to take it eventually, he'd postponed for the moment. Unsure if he was ready to relive again - as he was certain they'd have to touch on the third as well. But he did hear one common class for what they would be taking thus far. "I actually have Elemental Charms this year too. As well as Advanced Arithmancy, History of Magic with an emphasis on the founders of each of the schools, Care of Magical Creatures and a Muggle Studies course focused on the world history." He was actually looking forward to all of them. Which probably shouldn't have come as a surprise.
