PAST AND FUTURE

Ramsay had a slightly turbulent start, born to a young witch who quickly realised she couldn't cope and wasn't ready to be a mother. At two months old he was adopted by a wizarding couple - pseudo-celebrities, both with famous parents and very public lives, who had gone on to be loosely described as "influencers" - and moved to the UK with them. Adopting Ramsay earned the couple positive media attention, praise, and a little extra limelight, though this soon faded.

When Ramsay was four, his adoptive mother discovered she was pregnant with twins. Shortly after the babies were born, Ramsay was unceremoniously given up to the care system, with his adoptive parents citing behavioural issues and safety concerns, which Ramsay's social worker and the other professionals involved in his care soon discovered to be completely baseless. After being bounced between temporary foster homes for around a year, Ramsay was found a place at Stemp House, and has been settled and reasonably happy there ever since.

While he has been at Stemp House, Ramsay's biological mother has sporadically written to him, though in recent years he has become disillusioned with her and her empty promises. Her last letter to him, explaining she wouldn't be in touch for a while, coincided with his discovering through trawling through celebrity magazines that she had married an actor in the States, secured some minor roles of her own, and had started a family with him. Realising that he had, once again, become surplus to requirements, Ramsay became resentful towards his mother, bitter, and claimed he no longer wanted anything to do with her - vehemently denying any implication that he still desperately wanted to see her, or that he awaited another letter.

Ramsay's mother had told him in a few of her letters about how his father had been a big rockstar, that she'd given him his name, though she never provided much more information (while he wrote to her, with questions, she never replied to him, and no father was listed on his birth certificate). Ramsay took this to mean his father was a wrockstar also named Ramsay, and has insisted as much to anyone who will listen for years. He has an obsession with finding his father, trawling through wizarding music and celebrity magazines to find the man who fits all the criteria. What Ramsay does not yet know is that his father was actually a muggle rock artist named James Ramsay, known by the stage name J-Ded, who died at the age of 27 at the peak of his fame, and who continues to be celebrated posthumously around the world. Ramsay, who refuses to be discouraged when his research leads him nowhere, has only recently been forced to conclude that he might be looking in the wrong place, deciding to broaden his search once he can get his hands on muggle magazines.

Whether because of what he believes about his father, or an inherited musical ability, or because his extensive research had an inevitable side effect, Ramsay has been interested in music since he was young, both listening and playing. He plays a little guitar, and is a capable drummer, but is primarily drawn to bass and vocals (like his father, though Ramsay does not know this). Ramsay's ambition is to make it big in a wrock band, though he often lacks the patience, dedication, and organisational skills integral to 'the boring part' of starting up a band. He can also be slightly abrasive, and is prone to being so focused on one thing that everything else fades into insignificance and falls by the wayside (his obsessive search for his father often taking priority). Ramsay is certain that he will achieve this goal - somehow - even if he has to delay the forming of a band until after his Hogwarts years. He will entertain no other ideas about his (incredibly unlikely, as things stand) ambitions, and has no other plans for the future.
