Meredith removed her arm from the gumball machine and knelt down to turn the lever once more. "Yes, I think it is busted or! or! hear me out!" she suddenly jumped up to her feet and leaned closer to the other girl and held a hand before her hand before she whispered; "They are trying to scam us!" She nodded her head importantly. Desiree noticed Meredith’s face turning the same shade of red as her hair. Although she could appreciate color coordination, she didn’t draw attention to it. Really, she wasn’t offended by the mistake. There were much worse things than being mistaken for a Ravenclaw, like randomly turning into a wombat for a whole term! “No worries,” she replied with a soft chuckle of her own.
Her bright blue eyes darted from Meredith to the gumball machine and back again as she considered the scam theory. “I guess it’s possible,” she said. “Stranger things have happened.” Looking at the machine again, a thought occurred to her. “Do you mind if I take a closer look? Maybe we can figure a way to get it out. I promise I won’t take your gumball.”
