Freddie, thankfully, was an incredible father and probably would’ve asked to adopt even more children after Holly had they not decided that five was probably plenty. But with the four eldest children having moved out and Trixie being from a wealthy family and therefore living in a house big enough to house a small army, the house felt empty with just the three of them rattling around within its walls. The patter of teeny tiny feet learning how to walk would certainly fill that gap. Still, Trixie was not the type to pressure her children and if they weren’t ready for that yet then their parents weren’t going to push the matter.

“I suppose we are at the age where we must live vicariously through our children.” Not that the Blonde was in any hurry to slow down and in fact worked harder than ever to educate the next generation of Healers. A work/life balance was necessary however and she was privileged enough to live in the most beautiful part of the country down on the Cornish coast and when she wasn’t working would be seen riding her horses along the golden sands of the coves or taking a dip in the ocean if it was warm enough. It was ironic that the Broadmoors had decided to situate themselves in such a coastal community considering Freddie’s fear of water and lack of swimming abilities. The children, Tabitha in particular, absolutely loved it.

The former Slytherin understood that scheduling time for families was difficult. It was ironic that as children wanting to spend time with your parents wasn’t necessarily forefront of the mind but that was when you always had the availability to do so. It was as you aged that you realised how important it was to spend time with your parents and that was when time was limited. Whenever their work schedules allowed, Tabitha and Ruby would often be home and the boys were living locally so Trixie would often check in to see if they were okay. The boys were less likely to visit of their own accord, perhaps because of their strained relationship with their father but that seemed to have improved now. “Well I hope that you are able to overcome those barriers and see them more often.” It would break her heart not to see her children so often. With Vashti being on her own now it would be more important than ever to enjoy the company of her family.

Trixie had always had a feeling of protectiveness over the younger Ravenclaw. She had been like an older sister when they attended Hogwarts and had even shed a little tear of pride when Vashti had informed her that she had been offered the Head Girl title like Trixie had been a few years previously. It was only natural therefore that Trixie would insist that Vashti was as much part of the family as her blood relatives were. “You must visit us soon.” She’d make sure of that. Vashti could bring as many of her children and grandchildren as she wanted for there was space for them all. That and Trixie missed the company of younger children and would love to coo over their sweet little faces.

As for knowing what she was going to order. “Nonsense! This is my treat” she insisted. Trixie was not going to take no for an answer either, she was a Slytherin after all. ”What would you like?” she asked.

Vashti chuckled. "Hey now, speak for yourself. I'm still very young with my whole life ahead of me," she said lightly with a playful wink. She was just teasing, of course, though there was some truth to that for both of them. Even if neither of them were freshly graduated Hogwarts students anymore, she didn't consider herself, or Trixie for that matter, old. They had their own fulfilling and busy lives, with work and social lives and hobbies and, of course, their families. No need to sit on the sidelines and depend only on their children's decisions for excitement in their lives.

As for the travel barriers... "I hope so too." It seemed unlikely though. Unless the Earth suddenly changed its rotation speed and they gained more hours in a day, it was simply the nature of things that there wasn't enough time to see all of her children and grandchildren as much as she wanted, especially if they lived far away. But that would likely be true no matter what, because she always loved to spend time with them.

And that extended to Trixie and her family as well. Vashti enjoyed spending time with them too, of course, so it wasn't difficult to agree to visiting. "Absolutely! I would love to."

Vashti didn't mind grabbing lunch for them both, but if Trixie insisted on paying, then she wasn't going to argue. "Well, if you insist. I was going to order a turkey and cheddar sandwich and pumpkin juice." She'd been fond of pumpkin juice ever since she'd first tried it after being introduced to the magical world as an eleven-year-old, and that fondness hadn't gone away in all the years since.
