Of course, considering his parentage and upbringing, he has had quite a few ideas on how British society worked, but being there in person still shook him to the core. It was very... very different from Japan. The people were more loud and intrusive than what he was used to back home. So much so that he wanted to go back almost immediately. The only thing that held him back from doing so, was the fact that he was going to finally live with his dad. Permanently. Okay, maybe until he turned 18. But for now, he was here for his wand appointment!

Yoji pushed the door open, letting himself inside first and held the door for his dad to come in. Immediately, Yoji's face lit up, his cheeks turning pink at the excitement of getting matched for a wand. While his eyes scanned the room, he let his dad push him towards the comfortable corner of the shop and sat in one of the seats available. "Touchan, when is my turn?" Yoji asked in a whisper, deathly afraid to disturb those who were already in the store.

Jace kept his son in sight, as he too trod the busy street of Diagon Alley. Indeed it was different from Japan, but he thought the difference in the environment would be of great help to Yoji so he could settle in faster. Mahiro did put up a fight one last time, and Yoji's departure from Japan had been delayed for months, and that has kept Jace from updating Matt in a timely manner. The guy will unalive him proverbially, but if Matt was as perceptive as Jace had hoped, his auror best friend would understand. Equally relieved to be back in the UK and in the relative safety of Diagon Alley, he sighed and joined Yoji inside Ollivander's directing him quickly to the corner so as not to be in the way of those who were coming out. He too had the same sense of excitement and wonder when he first got matched with his wand, and in hindsight, he was still in awe of it all-- not because he was getting re-matched for a second wand, but because life has somewhat come full-circle for him. Not in his wildest dreams did he think he'd one day bring his own child and watch them get their first wand.

Jace smiled at Yoji and poured himself a cup of tea that was made available for them, and started to relax in his chair. "Soon, they will call you when it's your turn." Jace brought the teacup to his lips and took a sip. He then looked out the window behind him, and through the door to the other side to see any semblance of Matt's form. "Your uncle Matt is running late," he remarked. "And it's my fault. Be ready to hear an earful from him." he continued giving Yoji a wink.
Right, so HOW LONG had it been since Matt had last seen his mate Jace? Years? ACTUAL years. DECADES, maybe. It certainly felt that way.

Needless to say the Auror was - drama mode: on - shook to the CORE very much surprised when he got a letter from his former yearmate from Hoggy Warty Hogwarts. And MERLIN, had Matt tried to keep in touch properly. Alas, he was dealing with someone from a very peculiar culture and Matt had convinced himself Jace was simply a weirdo who didn't want deep friendships.

THEN AGAIN, it was all very strange because that wasn't really the Jace he knew from school. Weird, all very weird. Matt had wondered if it had anything to do with his job, but STILL, if anyone could use their job as an excuse to avoid friendships was Matt himself, and yet here he was, being a normal human being willing to make connections.

ANYHOW.

As previously mentioned, Matt was SHOOK TO HIS CORE surprised when he received the letter saying Jace was willing to meet up in Diagon Alley. Wow. And he meant WOW. The aUdAcItY. Then again, Matt was a forgiving bloke and he was willing to see what the HECK had happened and why Jace had gone all WEIRD for ALL those YEARS.

DECADES, perhaps. Who really knew anymore?

DRAMA LAMMA.

LOOK. It was him. The man himself. Sitting there at Ollivanders, just chilling as usual.

The former Gryffindor marched into the shop and stood there, fists on hips, feet shoulder-width apart, like a super hero, eyes upon his fRiEnD. He opened his mouth to say something when he spotted him. The other him. The... kid himself(?).

Whoa. Whoa.

Whoooooooaaaaaaaaa.

It was like Matt was momentarily transported to the past. Their first year, more specifically. Mini-Jace was standing there, waiting for his turn to get a wand.

Holy moly.

Closing his mouth, the Auror completely ignored his mate turned and put one knee down on the floor to get more level with the tiny person child.

He looked into the kiddo's eyes for a moment and, honestly, that made him quite emotional.

He let out a sort chuckle before shaking his head and looking up at his friend. "Mate..." Matt finally said, getting up and holding his hand out for Jace. Not waiting for all the politey-arm's-length-politeness of the former Ravenclaw, he pulled his LONG-LOST bro in for a hug. "Well done." He added, giving him hearty taps on his back.
