She wasn't, she was only around five or so but like most cats, Kanga wasn't thrilled with getting all wet.

Slips her wand back into its holster and gently runs her fingers through Kanga's fur. "There, all better. Go on, go say hello." Sets her cat down so she can wander over towards the younger girl on her own. "I'm Keighley," she returned the grin.

Aurora wouldn’t blame the kitty if she didn’t like getting wet in the rain. Her Ma had always remarked that the family cat was strange as she would sit out in the rain by herself despite having a cat flap. She did however also like the weirdest breeds of cats so that could explain the Munchkin cats behaviour. Normal cats didn’t like getting wet so Kanga had every excuse to not like it either. Dogs however LOVED to get soaking wet, perhaps that was why her Ma wasn’t so fond of the canines. Aurora loved all animals equally.. well most of them anyway. She watched as the girl dried herself and the cat off, only a little jealous of how effortlessly the older students seemed to harness their magic where it took the first year much longer to remember what spell achieved what result. SO MANY SPELLS! She was only a tiny person, how was she meant to memorise all of them?!

“You look much happier already!” she grinned at the cat as she was placed on the floor. She called her over, hoping for a quick cuddle and chin tickles. Oh yes, introductions were probably important. “I’m Aurora!” she replied. She would’ve added all the extra details like how she was a first year but that was going to be pretty obvious considering how petite and bright eyed she was. She might have been at the school for seven months now but that didn’t mean she wasn’t still in awe over how cool the school was and why her mums were initially hesitant to let her attend.
