Was it possible that he recalled a good amount of details from his previous studying? “For me, it would be the constant colour change the potion goes through while it’s being brewed,’’ the seventh year began, lowering his hand. “I think a few colours include green, orange, red, pink… some brewers might find that intriguing.” Jude knew he would! Especially given the fact that he LOVED bright colours! "It DOES go through a good number of color changes, which give you a good idea of how successful your potion is as you go along," Javier said with a nod at Jude's answer. That wasn't exactly what he'd been digging for with his question but hey, if Jude liked the colors then so be it! Quote:

Her mum had wanted to protect her, which was nice, but she suspected that it didn't actually work that way with names.
Not entirely sure of its relevance, the Slytherin still offered a hand in the air. "I know that... Wiggentrees have protective properties - they're supposed to, like, deter dark magic, yeah? Since they're a part of it, it'd be cool if the consumption of the potion could extend a little further and provide some sort of added protection in addition to its healing abilities?" She didn't know, so she was asking hopefully. Was that even a thing? "Good thinking! However, the only real 'dark magic' this potion is documented in being affective against is the Draught of Living Death and sleeping curses," he explained. That was where that whole muggle fairytale thing had come into play. Quote:

It was probably part of the reason why he stayed quiet when next a question was raised by Professor Hernandez. Let his classmates get an answer in as he added mentions to his notes. And there it was….Jude was the one who guessed the object of the day’s lesson right beside him.
Snaps to him.
Wiggenweld Potion. That got added to the top of his parchment as Raj thought on the next question. “It’s versatile usages. Both with physical injuries and negative potions. “ It wasn't a one-trick pony by any means. "Very good," Javier nodded at Raj's response. "It's true, the potion acts both as an antidote against some potions and also helps heal injuries." Quote:

The only reason she hadn't is because she wasn't sure she knew how to pronounce it, but it turns out it was pronounced just as she'd read it inside the silence of her mind.
Apparently, that was what they were going to brew today, too. When the next question was asked, Nora went right back to flipping through her textbook. After she spent a minute or two reading through the text and trying to piece together an answer, she raised her hand. "It looks like it can be used for both major and minor injuries. It can apparently wake somebody up from a magically-induced sleep, and it can treat minor injuries," she explained. It still seemed like most everybody else chiming in knew so much more, but seeing as just a few short months ago, she'd probably never even muttered the word potion, she thought she was doing pretty good. "Yes, it's very effective against the Draught of Living Death - but the more common use is for injuries," he added, not wanting to scare the poor first year. There weren't a lot of situations where people would encounter such a potion, but in case they ever did...well, they knew what they needed to reverse it! Quote:

Apparently the real topic of the lesson was the Wiggenweld potion which Bella didn't know quite a lot about, but she was willing to learn. Writing down Wiggenweld potion her parchment she then scribbled down what facts Jude, Mia and Nora had already given before she raised her own hand to say when called on and explained, "Wiggenweld means in etmology welder of strength, and thus if you drink the potion you get a big boost in strength and stamina, but that's what I've heard/read I haven't tried it." It would be niffty to drink a wiggenweld potion before say a quidditch match unless that was counted as cheating? Javier chuckled. "I don't know what is really considered a 'big burst' but it does definitely make you more invigorated," he explained. But he didn't want anyone getting any ideas and running out to treat the Wiggenweld potion like an energy drink or something like that! Coffee and tea would still work perfectly fine and be a lot less work. Quote:

So instead, she scrawled the name of the potion prettily on her page, giving it an underlined flourish before she penned the properties everyone else was supplying.
Diversity in it's uses did seem helpful. If you could use it for more than one ailment, naturally wouldn't it be more beneficial than something that only worked for ONE specific injury? But still, considering that had already been stated and she was just ruminating on it further - she kept her hand down, though her eyes still were attentive to her peers speaking and her pen still moving across page when new information was thrown out.
Was it terrible she was also focused on the pretty colors thing and looking forward to seeing the potion brewing? Hmm, no input from Mouse? No worries, Javier watched her take notes before he moved along to the next person. Quote:

Between the soft hums to herself of a particular tune she had not been able to shake from her thoughts for days now, the Ravenclaw's attention did occasionally check back in with what was being said around her. Enough so that she heard the word 'Wiggentree' ... or at least...something that sounded like it. If it wasn't Wiggentree it was something close to it and her mind had filled in the rest. Wiggentrees were quite fascinating and she thought that she might very much like to see one in person- see, touch, and study. It was fascinating and perplexing while making perfect sense that one could be protected from every matter of Dark creature simply by touching its trunk.
In any case, depictions of Wiggentrees often reminded her of bonsai and thus, as her thoughts settled on this...she set to adding further details to her doodling. In a peculiar kind of way doing so almost made her appear to be on track - if you squinted and looked at her parchment upside down, that is. [ahem, full size available] Welp, now that Mitsuki had elaborated more on her drawing, Javier could see it clearly as he rounded by her station. Sigh. She was so talented with the drawings, he just wished he could get her to pay attention for a whole lesson for a change! Quote:

The last line, well...it looked more like squiggles instead of words. It didn't bother him. Whatever it was, probably was mentioned in the textbook anyway.
As far as Wiggenweld Potions were concerned though, all Sailor needed to know was that it would wake anyone up from a magically induced sleep as well as heal that person's injuries. To him, nothing was... particularly interesting about it with that given description. He had come across that story about a wizard prince using it on a princess to wake her up. Sailor had questions and concerns about that, the same way he had questions about its likely muggle counterpart, the story of Briar Rose, but that wasn't one for Potions class.
He did, however, squint at the injured dummy again. What did it have to do with the Wiggenweld Potion? Were they supposed to wake it up and heal it? Was there an actual person in there? Now, that would be an activity Sailor could get behind. SOMEONE looked a bit more awake now...but Sailor remained silent, so Javier continued his stroll around the room before calling on the next student. Quote:

He flipped through his textbook, reading about the potion. It looked like most of the things there had already been said! Now he didn't have many ideas. He had to... come up with his own. That was hard. "Well..." he began hesitantly. "Is Wiggenweld simpler or cheaper than many other healing potions? Or in another way easier to get? Because some potions are too expensive for most people, or need a prescription, or can only really be found in a hospital. If it's a potion that lots of people have... it wouldn't be like that." Cost and complication was why his family didn't have every healing potion ever to exist. If Brandon had it his way, he and his whole family would have little healing kits all the time. Only he doubted Megan and Charlie would know how to use it, and they probably didn't need one anyway. And his sister would forget it only at the worst times. So it would just be him, then. But he had already been putting together a kit. So far it had dittany, a blood-clotting thing, numbing cream, bandages, scar cream, and bruise cream(he stole it from his sister's apartment and he was really sorry but he decided he needed it and surely she wouldn't say no if he really needed it?). He wanted to be prepared for anything. Even if he felt safe. "Very good Mister Fox!" Javier said with a grin at the first year. "The ingredients for this potion are much cheaper than other healing potions, and the process for brewing doesn't take nearly as long as some other healing potions, making it far more accessible for more people." She was slightly disappointed that she hadn’t correctly guessed the potion, but her guess was related to the Wiggenweld potion, so that sort of counted, right?
She listened intently, taking the appropriate notes. Wow, the Wiggenweld potion did a lot of stuff… heals minor injuries, antidote to sleeping potions, and boosts strength. Desiree’s eyes momentarily flicked toward Edward, and she wondered if the Wiggenweld potion could heal all of his injuries, if he wasn’t a dummy, that is. Anyway, it sounded like a cool potion, and the bright colors were an added bonus! She couldn’t wait to try brewing it, but first she had to get through this question.
Desiree had no idea what she could say that others hadn't already, but she didn’t want to give up. Lost in thought, she kept going back to her answer from the previous question. If the flesh-regenerating ointment was related to the Wiggenweld potion, maybe there were other potions related to it? And maybe knowing how to brew the Wiggenweld potion could help you brew those other ones? It was a longshot, but it was the only idea she had. Tentatively raising her hand, she said, “Could the Wiggenweld potion be a foundation for other potions? LIke the flesh-regenerating ointment, for example. If it’s true that they’re related, maybe knowing how to brew the Wiggenweld potion will help you make the flesh-regenerating ointment?” "Good thinking, but not necessarily. You will find similar ingredients in most of those things you mentioned, however," Javier pointed out. Quote:

But she didn’t know, Maisey was starting to feel like the students who was born into wizarding families did have an advantage compared to muggleborns like her. It just meant that she would have to work harder. She gave Professor Hernandez a nod, ”Got it.” Now she knew and she added that to her notes. Deflation draft antidote to swelling solution only cures effects of swelling solution.
She added more things to her notes as the answers continued. Maisey’s jaw dropped as she listened to Mia’s answer. That sounded so interesting and cool in a way. She was definitely going to ask her more that one later, and would try it one day. Not soon though, since it was very difficult per Professor Hernandez. Wiggenweld Potion
The first year quickly flipped around until she found the page the wiggenweld potion was on. She looked over the page, and listened to the others' answers. Color changes, the potion changed colors as you brewed it? That was cool. It way a beginner level, wasn't it? Professor Hernandez did say good for beginging your healing journey So maybe it was easy minus the color changes, which seemed only a bit difficult. ”Would it be easy to be able to brew up some when you ran out?’ And the ingredients, they all looked like she’d seen most of them in other potions too.. MOST OF THEM. Enough to make her think that most magic folk had them on hand, like spices for cooking. ”And the convenience of having the ingredients needed on hand, or easily available.” "It is rather easy, yes," Javier confirmed Maisey's question with a nod. And he wasn't just saying that because he was the potions master. "And you're correct that the ingredients needed are often much easier to get ahold of than some other potions." "Excellent work, everyone!" Javi said, clapping his hands together once to hopefully jolt awake some of those silent kiddos and get their attention back on him. "As many of you pointed out, the Wiggenweld Potion is popular for a number of reasons. One, it's generally easy to brew, especially compared to other healing potions. In fact, I am SO confident that you'll all be able to brew it correctly, that I'm going to allow each one of you to save a small vial for your own personal use after class," he explained with a grin.
Well, assuming they DID brew it correctly. And he'd be watching to make sure anyone who DIDN'T left their incorrectly brewed potion behind, just to be safe.
"The ingredients are also relatively simple to come across and found in many basic potion ingredient kits. Easy to find - and cheap to buy," he added, because let's be real - money was everything, and thankfully Wiggenweld Potions could be made in large batches for not a lot of coin. "Finally, the biggest draw is the usefulness of this potion. It can heal just about any minor injury - think cuts, scrapes, bruises, head wounds, even a minor broken bone like a finger or toe," he added. Anything more than that, and they'd need something else. They could patch up their old dummy friend here in a heartbeat! "It's also an antidote to many sleeping potions, including the Draught of Living Death," he concluded. "If you're familiar with the muggle fairy tale Sleeping Beauty...well, it was actually a Wiggenweld Potion that woke up Briar Rose, not true love's kiss," he said. Sorry to burst your bubble, hopeless romantics. "Now, we shall begin the brewing process. As always, you have the rest of the class to work on this," he said, waving his wand so the ingredients and instructions appeared on the board. He then headed over to the side counter, where all the ingredients were divided into small trays, one for each student - pre-measured as always. "One note I'd like to make about this potion - if you look in your textbooks, you'll find that there are many more ingredients listed. However, many of them do not appear in the recipe in your textbook OR the recipe I have provided you here. That is because, since it IS so broad spectrum, you can modify the Wiggenweld potion to fit your specific needs. For example, when the Basilisk was petrifying students during Harry Potter's second year at Hogwarts, a modified Wiggenweld Potion using mandrakes was finally brewed to awaken the students. Mandrake, however, it not a regular ingredient in your standard Wiggenweld potion," he explained. Hopefully that all made sense to them, and would clear up any confusion. "Any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. You may begin!" he announced before turning to the dummy and picking him - or her? - THEM up by the middle and moving them to the side of the blackboard, propping them up on a stool but out of the way of the students as they went to get their things. OOC: Onto the brewing portion! Javier has promised them that they'll be able to keep their potions if they brew it correctly - but don't try to sneak an incorrectly brewed potion past him, he WILL find out. Or maybe you do and face his wrath. Your choice! As always only one post detailing the whole brewing process is required for full points, but you may split up your brewing process across a few posts if you would rather do it that way!
As Javi said, if you look up the potion in your "textbook" aka the HP Wiki you'll find a whole list of ingredients that are never mentioned once in the actual recipe (which you'll also see I made a bit more detailed) so just follow the recipe I've provided rather than what's on the wiki. Let me know if you have questions!! You have until January 21st at roughly 5 PM CDT to finish up!
