"Hello, Mr. Benetti, thank you for coming. No, not too early at all," exclaimed Tapio with relief--at least one person had showed up!

SPOILER!!: Nora Collins

There seemed to be only other student here, which had Nora wondering if they all knew something she didn't. Maybe she could just edge on out without anyone seeing her? She'd just ignore the fact that she'd already spoken up and greeted the professor.
"Good morning, Miss Collins," Tapio said cheerfully, pleased that he by now had managed to learn all the names of the new first years. "Ah, no, I believe I'm nearly through taking inventory. We'll get started in just a bit."

SPOILER!!: Prof. Dhruv Khanna

"Ah, Dhruv, thanks for coming to help! No, I think I'm nearly done with the writing part," Tapio said as he stuffed his pencil back in a pocket. He was rather relieved another staff member had come, in case he needed help keeping order. Not that there should be much trouble today, but children tended to want to do things you told them not to, and Tapio was about to issue very specific instructions shortly.

SPOILER!!: Yukie Rasting

"Ah, Miss Rasting, glad to have you aboard," said Tapio as he saw more students arriving; this was good.

SPOILER!!: Atlas Flamsteed

But, well, experience spoke louder, no? "I ... er ... I've worked inventory in Wiseacre's for two summers now...if...you'd like a hand with that. "
Tapio noticed one of his N.E.W.T. students arriving, though he could not quite figure out why the young man pursued the subject, as he did not seem to particularly enjoy it. Nevertheless, Atlas had the grades for it and far be it from Tapio to discourage anyone from finding out more about Herbology. If he had been able to see into the boy's soul, he would have reassured him that he should feel no guilt whatsoever about setting those greenhouse fires--those plants had all been doomed the minute that Pharoah's Triumph had been brought in. "Hello, Mr. Flamsteed; I think I'm done with inventory for now, thank you, but I'll remember your experience in that area for the future. We'll get started very soon now."

SPOILER!!: Mitsuki Rasting

She reached her hands into her pocket for two pinches of salt and flicked them at the display before licking her fingers clean.
Tapio was just eyeing Mitsuki's unusual (though admittedly creative) choice of jewellry (those were pinecones, weren't they?) when he noticed with alarm that she stepped suddenly in the direction of the new plants and apparently threw a bit of some substance in their direction. His alarm grew when he saw the nearby plants move slightly under their muslin as a faint humming drifted briefly on the air.

"Ah, Miss Rasting! Please don't get too close to those plants yet, they're very sensitive." And it should go without saying, don't throw things on them. He hoped this girl was not going to be a problem.

SPOILER!!: Miss Nam

"Hello, Miss Nam. Yes, my summer was very good, and rather exciting toward the end." Perhaps just a bit too exciting, but things always were with his wife, and Tapio wouldn't have it any other way. "I hope you had a good summer, too. And thanks for the help."

SPOILER!!: Yumeki Kawatani

Morning huh... Yumeki came into the Greenhouse and looked around. Mussing with his long hair and still putting together his uniform so it didn't look horribly untidy beneath his school robe. He saw all the supplies sitting around the Greenhouse and wondered if the Professor just never finished unpacking everything before the School Term started and was now putting the student body to work to do what he couldn't do because of injury? But wasn't magic an option to just put all this stuff into order? What a pain to have to be put to work like this. Nevertheless the right thing to do was to come here and help where he could. "Good morning Professor DeVries." He smiled tiredly toward the Herbology Professor then smiled toward the DADA Professor who seemed to have also have come here to help DeVries-sensei with putting away his unfinished business. "Good morning to you as well Professor Khanna."

Tapio noticed that the next arrival seemed a bit tired and hoped he hadn't volunteered out of some sense of obligation--this was a voluntary activity, after all. Though Tapio was increasingly pleased at all the people who had arrived to help. "Good morning, Mr. Kawatani, thank you for coming."

SPOILER!!: Milo Evans

Tapio nearly didn't see Milo arrived, he'd arrived so haphazardly and was now standing behind the other students. But from his great height, Tapio didn't usually miss much for long and the first thing he noticed after the boy's face was the bare feet.

"Good Morning, Mr, Evans. Ah, you might want to wear shoes for this, I don't want anyone to get hurt." A fourth year ought to already know not to come barefoot to an herbology activity, though Tapio could not always follow Milo's logic.

SPOILER!!: Vera Thanatos

Tapio had really been expecting more such questions, so he took the opportunity to put people's curiosity to rest by answering loudly enough for the group to hear. "Good morning, Miss Thanatos. No, it's not a plant-related injury." Tapio would probably not have gotten himself hurt if it had been a plant. "I joined my wife on a magizoological expedition in Japan. We were surprised by a Kappa and it unfortunately bit me." Isla had scolded him about that for quite a while, insisting that he should have let her take care of it. Which of course he should have, but he just didn't react sensibly when he thought his wife might be in danger. "I've been seeing Professor Feirgrund about it and I'm sure it will be better shortly."

SPOILER!!: Maria Dolph

…. ”Earmuffs? For herbology? Why?” what on earth? Earmuffs for greenhouses and Herbology? Weird she thought it was just weird. She looked around for some kind of confirmation.
Tapio smiled at the young student's eagerness. And he couldn't deny he enjoyed the curiosity just a bit. "Good morning, Miss Wilde. The earmuffs are for an upcoming class, you'll find out what they're for soon enough. Though there are a number of plants that require their use, you know." Like mandrakes, for instance, But she'd get to that class next year.

SPOILER!!: Keighley Anders

I'm here and happy to help with whatever I can." Keigh smiled brightly.
Ah, another enthusiastic one! Tapio couldn't help smile at the girl's eagerness as he greeted her: "Good morning, Miss. Anders, thanks for volunteering. We'll start in just a moment, when everyone else gets here." For he could see a few more volunteers on their way down to the greenhouses.

When Tapio saw that everyone he'd seen approaching was here, he set the clipboard down on a nearby barrel and raised his voice to make an announcement. "All right everyone, hello and welcome. And thank you all so much for volunteering to come down and help me with this. " He smiled once more and looked around at everyone to make sure they could see he really was grateful.

"What we'll be doing today is putting away some special herbology supplies I've ordered for an upcoming class, and the reason I need help--well, besides the obvious reason," and here he waggled his bandaged arm a bit, just in case anyone could possibly have missed it. "But the other reason, and it's a very important one, is that the plants themselves--the ones in pots covered up with muslin--can't be moved using magic, or...well, let's just say it would disturb them, and we don't want to do that right now." We'll save that for class, Tapio thought to himself.

"So, the bags of fertilizer, the spades and other tools, and the labelled boxes--those you can use magic to levitate into Greenhouse One, where you'll see where to put them, because there are either labels or other similar supplies there to show you the spot. And if you have any questions, just ask me. Even if you get something in the wrong place, it's not a disaster, they're only supplies." Tapio smiled encouragingly, because he'd found some students sometimes got anxious about being perfect and doing things 'just right' and in most cases, that fear really wasn't necessary. After all, this wasn't a potions lab!

"But as for the plants, you'll have to manually lift them off the cart and take them over to a temporary greenhouse tent I've set up right behind Greenhouse One here." Tapio swung his uninjured arm to direct their attention to a somewhat large canvas tent with netting in the place of windows which was standing right next to the greenhouse. The door flaps had been secured back so that one could enter easily, though the taller students might have to stoop a little (how Tapio would manage to fit in there was anyone's guess, but he must have, because there was wooden planking already set up on the ground along all the sides of the tent.

"Be very gentle with them--younger students, you might want to work in pairs, though they're not too large." Indeed, they were about as big as a medium-sized houseplant, though a bit tallish. "And please avoid shouting or singing while you work, the plants get disturbed very easily. Don't take off the muslin covers, just set them gently down on the planks, to keep them off the damp ground. And above all, don't use magic to carry them. Tapio around once more to make sure everyone was listening, and so that they could see that in this instance, he was very serious about this.

"Any questions, anyone? If not, we can get started. Again, supplies in Greenhouse One, magic is okay, and plants in the temp greenhouse, NO magic." And with that, Tapio turned to the wagon, carefully lifted one of the plants off of it in one hand, walked over to the canvas greenhouse, and somehow bent himself down enough to slip inside. A few minutes later he reappeared, smiling, and waved to them. "See? not too hard, then. So, let's have at it!"
