None of these people or places looked anything like what she was used to. Apparently, they were ALL witches and wizards...well, most of them. That was still the weirdest thing Nora had ever tried to wrap her head around.
She was walking toward a bank, which apparently held some kind of magical money? She didn't want magical money. She wanted to go home and go back to the life she'd been quietly living for the last eleven years. But noooooooo. That stupid owl had come along and ruined everything. At least there was a playground. That was something she was used to, even if she had outgrown most of the equipment.
She sighed and kind of paused in her walk. Deep down inside, she knew she was being stubborn. This whole magical world didn't seem so bad. It was just...weird. She had literally grown up believing everything she was about to get herself into only existed only in fairy tales. She still had no idea how her parents had been talked into this. It would all work out, right? She'd learn magic and meet friends and not miss her old life much at all...right? Books? Check. Potion kit and cauldron? Check.
She had decided on doing her wand LAST, because that was by far the most important thing and she felt a little intimidated by that, to be honest. So instead she was going to go look for her robes next. That should be fun...that was the one thing she DEFINITELY couldn't borrow from her older siblings, considering they were both boys.
As she headed down the alley, checking her list periodically as if something would have magically added itself to the list in the last two minutes since she checked...she walked RIGHT into someone. Someone who was standing right in the middle of the road! The girl was just...staring off in to space. Which Nancy would have found weird if she hadn't been doing this exact thing earlier, trying to decide if she wanted to get her wand or not. "Oh, sorry! I wasn't paying attention," she told her, trying not to make her feel bad that she was...ya know...holding up foot traffic and all that. Nancy HAD been focused on her list and probably could have avoided her had she been looking up, after all...
