Rajesh waited until it was his row’s turn to come up to the front and handle the various reptiles that Professor Paton had supplied for today’s lesson. His footfalls were squishy as he walked and judging by the feeling of his hands, he doubted his first choice would be alright, even if he chose to wear gloves for once. The sixth year didn’t want to mess with one of the firedrakes with his perchance to summon water and a Karma Chameleon didn’t need to deal with his frustration. So, he opted instead for one of the songsnakes.
Maybe its song would help his mood even a tiny bit.
“Hey little fella…” he greeted, slowly bending his head down towards the snake to present himself. “Just gonna move you a little.” Gently and carefully, he picked the tank up and returned to his spot with his tank. Raj settling it down to let his charge adjust after moving before he did anything else. “There…not so bad,” he mused, tentatively lowering his hand into the tank so as to not shock the creature within but instead let the songsnake investigate him.
