Unforgivably Cursed | adultescent Phoenix had really hoped to hear stories about some ancient wizarding battle when he came into class today, but hearing that the topic of class would be wizarding economics wasn't too surprising given the preliminary crossword activity. It felt a liiiiittle dry though and the questions to the activity tedious, but Phoenix did like a good challenge, especially when prizes were involved. He was a little confused about the crossword puzzle though. He'd gotten some of the answers, though was stuck on some of the others. He would have preferred to keep working on it, but Holden did say that the answers would show up which made him disinterested in continuing at that point. So... would he still get a Holden knut for his attempt before the answers appeared?
He thought about asking but then decided it wasn't all that important anyway as class moved on and he redirected his focus. While the question posed seemed to be a simple one, Phoenix did not know an answer beyond the ones already offered, which mildly disappointed himself, and he certainly did not know a fun fact about currency. Currency had always seemed a bit straightforward to him, but perhaps he should have delved beyond the surface. His lack of contribution was a little embarrassing.
Wait... were souls used as currency? Phoenix peered at his housemate curiously a moment, until Holden confirmed that they could be used in bartering with dark wizards. Huh. That was remotely interesting and so was whatever his housemate was drawing... he couldn't quite see from where he was sitting... but his attention was once again refocused as Holden explained the activity.
Oh. Math. Phoenix could do math well enough, but he didn't find it all that interesting. Not as interesting as the stories behind what they were trying to convert - the bounty on Sirius' head, for example. He'd rather hear the story than do the math, but it didn't take him too long to scribble out the conversion on his parchment. 10,000 galleons equaled 170,000 sickles or 4,930,000 knuts... or did he want a combination of sickles and knuts? He knew both numbers so instead of overthinking it, Phoenix moved on to the next problem.
