| Baguette | there is no D in my name | TRAITORclaw | Queenie of Narnia The students jumped right in, and it was very fun to see. Rosalie observed them each taking their turns, most of them with success. It did take a more than one round for many, like Miss Prescott, Miss Blackthorne, and Mister Nam, while a few others nailed it within the first go-round, like Miss Wolff, Miss Guidry, Mister Anders, Miss Fox, and Mister Adara-Stark. And they all seemed to opt for their own strategies, whether tossing them all as quickly as possible or taking the time to aim. None of it was too surprising. There was skill to it, but there was a bit of luck too. Which meant it wasn't entirely out of the realm of possibility that some would be very unlucky, even if she had thought it unlikely. For now, though, the ring toss. Inspired by this new method of evasion, Milo stepped right up and grabbed the next bunch of rings available, and started throwing. He was no sportsman, and he had very little skill and experience with games such as this, but after a number of tries happened to land one of the hoops around a bottle neck, more luck than judgement.
Milo stepped forward, retrieved his slip of parchment from the bottle, and read it. A historical place/time period. He checked the back too, but already knew he'd find no information there. So... so it came back to him anyway.
The game had betrayed him. Traitors everywhere. "Ms Applewood," Milo said, side-eyeing the ring toss of treachery and stepping away from it. "I need a historical place or time period." And then, in case she tried to get him to think of one on his own, he shamelessly tacked on the lie, "I don't know any."
And then, because another sideways glance landed on that one Gryffindor with the name Milo knew very well, he helpfully chipped in. "Throw them all at the same time." He didn't know if that would increase the odds in the case of random throwing, but he did want to see what would happen. Quote:

Actually, in all honesty, since it had been suggested...it made him want to NOT do just that, especially since the advice was coming from someone younger than himself. But also, ironically, he just wanted to throw something. A matter only made a little more complicated when a pretty fifth year agreed with the hatchling. But then, to sway him in the opposite direction (back towards his initial desire) was the whole point that throwing multiples was actually against the rules. Assuming standard boardwalk rules were in effect. "Yeah..." he mumbled while wiping his nose. "...maybe."
So, bruised by a bunch of rings and bottles, Atlas let his remaining rings go all at once and....TO ABSOLUTELY NO ONE'S SURPRISE...NONE OF THEM STUCK. His fingers clawed down his face as he dragged himself forward to collect the five rings.
Again.
"There is the Space Age...or Renaissance," he offered that same little Claw as he went storming on by him. Quote:

It was also probably a good idea that they would be given ideas on what the theme of their amusement parks should be, because Karleigh didn't know. Not that she didn't have any ideas, it was more like the fifteen year old had too many ideas and wasn't sure how to narrow her focus. This might be helpful.
She had never played a ring toss before, but she was familiar with the concept and it seemed pretty self-explanatory. Hopefully she would manage okay, otherwise it might prove embarrassing to do it wrong or miss the target. So once she'd gotten into one of the lines, she peered past the students in front of her to watch their turns and get an idea of what she should be doing.
Karleigh had gotten in line behind one of the Gryffindor twins in the year below her. She was unsure of his name because she couldn't quite tell them apart and didn't want to speculate. But he was taking an awfully long time, wasn't he? She hadn't noticed at first until it seemed a while, then she directed her focus on him. She would have been really embarrassed if it had been her missing toss after toss, so she was sympathetic. But at the same time, she peeked over at the other line, wondering if she should have been over there.
She glanced over at that younger boy who suggested throwing them all at once. Did that work? She didn't know, but she nodded encouragingly. "Seems like as good a strategy as any," she helpfully added to the twin in front of her. She might give it a try herself if it proved successful.
The struggle for Mister Flamsteed was certainly evident, but he continued to power through it, which was admirable. Rosalie wasn't going to let him struggle forever though.
But first, Mister Evans' question. She doubted he didn't know any time or place in history, but it was one of the broader theme options among the bunch, so she would humor him. She smiled. "Mister Flamsteed's suggestions are two excellent options. I might add Ancient Egypt or the Roman Empire as two more possibilities." There was a lot to choose from among any of those, so hopefully one of them sparked some inspiration.
Now, for the Gryffindor fourth year, she followed him as he went to collect the rings. "I appreciate the effort you've put in, Mister Flamsteed," she said with a reassuring smile. "You may go ahead and select a bottle for your theme, unless you wish to continue." Unlikely, but she had been surprised before, so the option was there if he felt particularly determined.
And since the other line was empty at the moment, she'd retrieved the rings the previous student had used and offered those to the fifth year Gryffindor with a smile. "Your turn, Miss Creed." - And, with a glance at her watch, it was time to continue. "Great job, everyone! There's still plenty of time to finish the ring toss to find out your theme, but I want to introduce the next part of the activity for you all now."
Picking up a stack of papers, Rosalie moved about the room, passing one to each student. On each paper, there was a paragraph of questions. Quote:
Design your own amusement park based on the theme that was selected in the game. Will it be only for entertainment, or will there be educational parts of it as well? Where is it located? Is it open all year round, or is it open only for a certain amount of time each year? What kinds of rides, attractions, events, and/or other activities would you include and how many? What kinds of food will your food stalls/shops/restaurants serve? What kinds of merchandise and/or souvenirs will you sell?
"As we discussed before, you'll be creating your own amusement park. These questions are to help you get started and help get the creative juices flowing. You don't necessarily have to answer all of these. For example, your amusement park may only do food stalls and no indoor restaurants, or vice versa, or maybe you have both. These are just some of the options to consider.
"You may work alone, or you may work with a partner. But if you do work with a partner, the theme park you create needs to be based on both of the themes you received in some way. For some, that might be an extra challenge, but perhaps it'll be a little bit extra fun too." One could create some really wacky and fun ideas with two seemingly different themes after all. "If you have any questions, please let me know. Otherwise, you may begin." OOC: Apologies for the delay, everyone! I got sick over the weekend and wasn't able to get on here for a few days because of it. Thank you for your patience!
Catch up on the ring toss theme activity is still allowed if you want to complete that before this part of the activity. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
Class will begin wrapping up in approximately 72 hours.
