Maya lifted her hand, ready to give the handsome owl who had not yet bitten her a little pat on the head when she heard a familiar voice. The Slytherin turned at the sound and returned the Ravenclaw's warm smile. "Hi Dahlia," she greeted, giving a little wave of her hand. "I am, my parents will worry if they don't hear from us though I'm sure Evan's already sent them an update," Maya replied with a little laugh. "I assume you're here to do the same?"

She watched as a first year in her house entered the owlery. "Hi," Maya said, looking over. As much as she wished she remembered the younger girl's name from the sorting, unfortunately she did not. There had been way too much... drama that had occurred prior to the feast at the table that distracted many of them.

Maya was ready to turn her attention back to Dahlia when the first year spoke again. Wow... friendly.

"It's been going well, thank you. How has your day been? Have you been settling in alright?"

Dahlia returned the small wave with one of her hand. "Oh, I understand that completely," she nodded in agreement, laughing softly as well. "Sometimes we all write together to make it easier rather than sending off a bunch of different letters but other times it's also nice to just write a letter on my own." And quicker actually. That way she didn't have to wait for four others to write their part of the letter before it could be sent off. "I never really consider how many people I'll be writing home to until I'm writing to them all.." there was a pause as she reached into the pocket of her robes and pulled out a bunch of envelops, "and I end up with all of these." So so many!

The arrival of a younger girl caught her attention and she smiled over at her. "Hello, how are you liking Hogwarts so far?" Hopefully she was settling in alright. Lia always liked to check-in with the younger years and see how they were handling all of the changes, Hogwarts could be extremely overwhelming!
