An Alder wand is a loyal, steadfast companion when it is well placed, and tends to attract friendly, likeable, considerate witches and wizards. It is, of all wand woods, the best suited to non-verbal magic which has added to its reputation of being the wand of only the most advanced witches and wizards. Celyn is free-spirited, open-minded, and outgoing. She is friendly and kind, but that goes well beyond the surface and is very genuine as she values meaningful, emotional connections. She has a big heart and truly cares about the world around her, whether that be people, wildlife, or the environment. Celyn comes from a very close-knit family of conservationists and herbologists who instilled in her an intense curiosity and an importance of symbiotic nature with the world around her. Her personality tends to radiate a positive energy, though she can be quite introspective as well, sometimes getting a little too into her head. Though she is an idealist, she is at times insecure and sticking to her own ideals when they don’t align with what seems to be the norm sometimes feeds into that. She also values creativity and being a non-conformist. Celyn is also a vegetarian for ethical reasons.

{history}

Celyn is the youngest child and only daughter born to Aron Ashburry-Hawthorne, herbologist and former UK Ministry of Magic DH, and Seren Bentley, Herbology teacher (formerly at Hogwarts). A very close-knit family, Celyn grew up exploring the world and the life within it. Much of her childhood was divided between Wales and Australia as she traveled with her family in their conservation work, her father leading the Stubby Purple Coral Revival Program at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. Celyn was homeschooled during their travels through a method known as unschooling which favors an interest-led pedagogy and learning through following her parents rather than a strict curriculum. Although he is nine years older and went off to boarding school when she was only a toddler, one of Celyn's biggest role models is her older brother, Derfael. When it was time for her to begin formal schooling, she spent her first two years at Tallygarunga Academy of Magic as they were in Australia at the time, before moving back to Wales and enrolling in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for her third through seventh years.
