To say that Heath was concerned for Professor Flamsteed’s well-being was a huge understatement! He had never seen her so… down before, not even at the height of Lucien uRosier’s reign of terror. It was awfully concerning. Completely understandable, but still concerning nonetheless. He entered the courtyard to find the professor looking worriedly at the vines, and suddenly a memory came rushing back to him. It was a memory of seeing a similar glumness one the face of her predecessor several terms ago when the lack of magic took its toll on the greenhouse plants.
At the time, he’d been at a loss for how to cheer up Professor Rainwater, but maybe there was something he could do to cheer up Professor Flamsteed.
“Hello, Professor Flamsteed,” he greeted with a small smile and a sympathetic look. His voice dropped as he added,
“I have something for you.” He reached into his bag to pull out a card with the picture of a
plant on the front. He’d originally planned to give it to her closer to the end of the term as a parting gift (along with a potted plant, were it not for the vines), but he thought she could use it now. Inside was a message written in blue ink:
Too nervous to stick around long enough to see her reaction, Heath beelined to a spot next to
Claudine.
“Hi,” he said quietly, greeting the girlfriend with a little smile as he waited for class to begin.
