ABOUT

Spencer was born in May 2086, to free spirit Pandora Kuznetsova, and straight-laced, then Daily Prophet reporter, Kenrick Muldoon. His parents had been in a turbulent off-again-on-again relationship for years, at one point becoming engaged, but had permanently ended their relationship by the time Spencer was born. Custody was split between his mother and father, and he stayed with his father for most of the time, as his mother would often leave to travel on short notice.

Spencer has severe ADHD, and was a handful from day one, constantly challenging his father's previously cool composure. As well as restlessness and distractibility, Spencer has always struggled with being disorganised and forgetful, impulsive, talkative, abrasive, and occasionally intensely emotional, though for the most part he's fun and easy going, flirty (with girls), hiLARious, and hardly ever throws furniture when he gets upset, except for that one time. A top lad. Only quality banter here.

As a child, he outstayed his welcome at two different primary schools, and was kept at home for his final year before secondary school. By the time he set off for Hogwarts, where he was sorted into Gryffindor, Spencer already knew he was considered troublesome and unintelligent, and, given how much he struggled to engage with schoolwork, had long since started to believe it himself. So he leaned into it, and focused instead on girls, and on swimming, his great passion which he dreamed of doing at a professional level, and blagged his way through school.

Spencer did, however, find he had a natural aptitude for Potions, and was fairly capable in Defence Against the Dark Arts. These were the only subjects he tended to do consistently well in, though his final grades seldom reflected this as he had a tendency to flounder in exam conditions. Spencer's OWLs were taken the year of the Rheticus Vortex, and his NEWTs in the year of the hostile takeover by the Neo-Alliance. In both instances, rather than take the extra time offered to prepare once the danger had passed, he took his exams as soon as he could in order to get them out of the way.

After graduating from Hogwarts, Spencer found himself adrift - though, as he would quickly point out to anyone, he'd got himself a long-term girlfriend at Hogwarts, and loads of admirers among the female population (allegedly), so it hadn't been a complete waste of time. He'd quit swimming in his fifth year, seemingly out of the blue, citing only that he was built all wrong for it and so at a natural disadvantage, and never won anything anyway. Eventually, he found work part time as a lifeguard at the local muggle pool, but, determined to earn enough to move out of his dad's flat, kept applying and looking for anyone who would hire him.

It was starting to seem hopeless, until the shopkeeper of Slug and Jiggers Apothecary (a) saw his amazing potential to be a potions expert (or something), (b) was charmed by his amazing personality, good looks, and sales patter, (c) took pity on him, or (d) all of the above. She took him on as a shop assistant, and gave him the chance he'd been waiting for.
