Rivers’s crystal orbs earned an approving nod.It didn’t matter that one hadn’t been completely round or that the other lacked a hook; the important thing was that she’d transfigured an ornament. “Nice work, Miss Rivers,” he said. “Keep at it.” Mordaunt’s assortment of ornaments also got a nod of approval, especially the lifesize droid one. “Well done, Mr. Mordaunt!” he said with a slight smile. “Are you going to charm that one to move and beep as well?”

Elsewhere he saw both of the Nams were off to a good start. “Excellent pronunciation, Miss Nam,” he said, observing the girl’s work. Her wand movement was spot on as well, but that probably went without saying. His aquamarine eyes flicked toward the elder Nam. While he was pleased with all of the boy’s work, he was most impressed with the fairy lights. “Great job, Mr. Nam,” he said. “I like those fairy lights.”

As Norman continued to make his rounds, he paused for a moment to examine the ornaments Fox had produced. “I like the wide variety of shapes you have, Miss Fox,” he said with a slight smile. “Keep up the good work!” He also noticed Nichols's success with not one but both spells, and she too received an approving smile. “Nicely done, Miss Nichols,” he said.

Changing directions, he saw that Blackthorne and Blaze had paired up and were making progress. “Excellent work, ladies,” he said. He started to turn away but stopped as he noticed Blackthorne’s hand in the air. “Yes, Miss Blackthorne?”

Making his way back to the front of the room, Norman checked his watch and saw it was time to move on to the next activity. “Attention, please!” He addressed the group, pausing momentarily to allow the students time to find a stopping place. “If you’re still working on your ornaments and fairy lights, you may continue to do so. Once you’re done, we’re going to use the ornaments and fairy lights to decorate these trees -” He gestured toward the pine trees at the front of the hall. “You are allowed to use magic to help you decorate -” The trees were even taller than him, so levitation charms were practically a necessity. “All I ask is that the ornaments, fairy lights, and the trees themselves remain intact.” Everyone got that? “You have the rest of class to decorate.”

With that, he gathered his own decorations and moved to the nearest tree. Soon it was decorated with blinking blue and cranberry lights and several tiny icy flowers.

For this activity, your student must decorate the trees in the Great Hall with the ornaments and lights they made in the main activity. Group/partner work is allowed, as is using magic to decorate, as long as the ornaments and trees stay intact. You may also use this time to finish the main activity if necessary.
