To be fair, Atlas thought that Remy would win their little floor is lava battle too. His own balance left much to be desired and even worse at times was his own depth perception. But it was different and his pride wasn't really on the line because he already had a strong hypothesis.
But, speaking of reflexes, he did catch the pillow that she threw at him AND did so with a smirk. "You surrendered before I even had the chance in that particular moment," he said with a shrug as he attempted to spin the pillow on his finger like a basketball. It did not go so well and ended up spinning right off his finger and on to the floor.
No one saw that, okay?
So he was scrambling to pick up the pillow again when she started their little race...and therefore already standing IN the lava. "OI!" Leaping back onto one of the surfaces (a chair by a study desk) and clutching the pillow to his chest, Atlas took a quick survey of his surrounding area before deciding his best course of action was to try and jump on to some of the cushions on the floor.
All while still holding on to the pillow because, well, divine retribution was coming!
