"I'm more into origami... and calligraphy." Maya offered. Calligraphy was something she had picked up towards the end of summer and she didn't think she was particularly good at that yet either but it was fun.
... maybe she could ask eomma to enroll her in some painting classes over the summer?
Ollie did bring up a good point about an escape from the castle. "But wouldn't it make more sense if the person who cast the spell actually got to experience this?" Maya asked. "It's kind of cruel to be passing by this daily and not be able to experience it." It was like looking at a picture of home and not be there with her family - frustrating with a touch of melancholy. "Maybe the mirror was stolen from wherever that place is." Ollie watched Maya’s head glanced down and she did too. Nothing was wrong with her outfit, so she wasn’t sure exactly why she looked. “I mean, calligraphy is kinda like painting.” she shrugged. She would never be able to get nice clean lines, and hold the pen just right for every stroke, so to Ollie, it was a form of painting. “And origami is really cool too! But isn’t it pretty mathematical?” She could’ve been making that up, but it made sense to her. With all the precise folding and stuff you have to be able to measure and do angle work and stuff. “If you ask me, those are much cooler than painting anyway.”
That was actually a really interesting thing to think about. Maybe it was stolen. Whoever had stolen it must’ve been pretty sneaky because it looked like a place that would’ve been pretty heavily guarded. “Maybe there’s something behind it that says who it belonged to… like a signature or address.” Ollie walked over to the mirror and looked at where the frame meet the wall. Then she gestured for Maya to help her lift it from the wall. “Here you can grab a side and we might be able to slide it up and see.” |
