I get so nervous working with red and blending because its such...a bold color

these markers can be pretty forgiving though unless you have put something down that is just entirely too dark. So small relief there

inspiration SSRPG character Zinnia Shacklebolt (sweetpinkpixie)
materials Ohuhu brush tip markers, copic fine inking pens 0.3 & 0.1, Gelly R@ll White 1.0 & 0.5
Zinnia is a character who has gone through so much struggle with her identity and the friction that identity has with the environment she was raised in. Her mother passed away in childbirth and with it any connection to her Japanese heritage while her father (Bulgarian) was mostly absent because of work. She was raid by her grandmother who was incredibly strict and controlling. Her grandmother, your stereotypical pureblood in many ways, was constantly grooming Zinnia to fit the mold of the daughter she wanted and never had and the woman she wished Zinnia's mother had been. She was thrown into beauty pageants at a young age which were more of a means of trying to strut Zinnia around to potential pureblood families as matches to their sons in arranged marriages. Winning practically every title along the way, Zinnia loathed this life and only wanted to play quidditch where she felt the most free - on a broom and in the sky. The press was naturally all over the 'beauty pageant princess turned quidditch princess' motif when they found out. Her grandmother disapproved of quidditch and imposed an expiration date for Zinnia to retire from the "abhorring display" at 25 and make herself useful to the family by entering an arranged marriage or finding a suitable match on her own - much drama, much hurt. She would be irrational reckless when the stress of her grandmother's standards and firm grip became too much and lash out with her behavior. This, naturally, caused some serious heartbreaks along the way, two in particular that she still reels in daily and may never truly heal from. She receives constant reminders of the life she has finally been able to leave behind and all the heartbreaks along the way now that her grandmother has finally passed away to this day.
Zinnia hates being called 'princess' anything, so it is very amusing to me that her prompt turned out to be 'queen' - which she isn't all that trilled about either
So, from Quidditch Princess to Quidditch Queen, Zinnia over time began to reconnect with her mother's roots and explored her Japanese heritage while also embracing her Bulgarian roots and these two sides of her heritage are represented in the two crowns: a Bulgarian queen and the crown of the Japanese empress. A quaffle is beside that to represent her love of quidditch, position as a chaser, and in the past IC year here on SS her team (Kenmare Kestrals) were league champions so...queen of the chasers (ugh she HATES me
). The ribbon with her name on it is meant to be silk and represents her skill as an aerialist.
