The words had been hurting, but it was like the mirrors could see into her soul and mind and that was SCARY.
One point to her for remembering his house and name. Maybe she was better at remembering names than she had thought. Smiling she said "It's fine if you can't remember. I'm Isabella, but everyone calls me Bella, and I'll be a third year Slytherin in september." She wasn't going to hold it against Evan since he was practically her savior. Accepting his offered hand Bella got to her feet and shook her head. "No, but it's pretty cool that Diagon Alley is 600 years old, don't you think?" Gesturing ahead of them she asked "Shall we brave seeing what mirrors meet us around the next bend in the maze?" She alteast had gone through the insulting mirror so hopefully the next mirrors were nice.
It had not yet occurred to him that carrying around kleenex at age 14 was a weird thing to do. But it had actually come in handy so many times for situations similar to this, that he wouldn't have even thought to change the habit. He nodded in acknowledgement at her thanks. It was weird how the mirrors were so in sync with ones emotions and insecurities. And not for the first time, Evan really wished there was an easier way to understand
why magic worked in the ways that it did. But it often didn't have any rhyme or reason
that he could notice so answers still escaped him.
"I don't know... I guess it would make sense though that there are some that can hone on our insecurities, when mirrors like the Mirror of Erised exist which shows the things we most want." Wouldn't it be interesting to have them side by side, to see which emotion could outlast the other?
"Sorry." Even if she said it was okay, he still felt bad. He'd certainly make sure he knew it now though should he ever run into her again.
"Nice to officially make your acquaintance Isabella. Do you like being called Bella?" He figured it was worth confirming, given how everyone called Mamie 'Mamie' but now she wanted to be Margaret
. "Are you excited for the upcoming term?" Another year was exciting, if also still perhaps a bit anxiety inducing. He pulled her up from her spot on the ground, letting go once she was settled and steady on her feet again.
"It really is cool. I had no idea it's been so long!" But why would he have? He didn't actually know much about DA at all, except the layout by now.
He nodded and gave a small smile at the offer to proceed, taking the lead so that if they did encounter anymore mirrors with the desire to tease, it would be him instead of her.
"Let's do it!" Evan started forward, tentatively reaching a hand out to make sure he wasn't staring at a reflection this time and wouldn't run into something like previously.
"Did you come with anyone today?"
