... Except when it played to his advantage. Take today as an example. Alex was currently watching some of the other players take a go at Zap-a-Snitch with the intention of picking up on the game before it was his turn to step up. He'd be following directions afterall. It was necessary to win and he did plan on winning. Maybe a succulent? He thought Nadine might like that.
Oh, and speaking of... When he felt the tap on his shoulder, Alex turned around (though not too eagerly because he didn't want to look like some sorry sap) and offered her an easy smile. "And so he does," he echoed softly, running a hand through his curls and giving them a good ruffle. "Hey," he laughed, trying to make up for the fact that he was, indeed, some sorry sap. "You're five minutes early." Not that he was keeping a count. He was obviously only teasing and if this statement had any accuracy then it was obviously a lucky guess. O b v i o u s l y.
Ugh, shut up.
Knew that he had promised a certain kind of date, and figured that this was not it, otherwise he would have told her. Right? So to think of it as a warm up per say was certainly a good way to think of it for now. Though the curiosity as to what he actually had planned was only growing stronger as time went on. And not to mention the staring from Alex, would certainly only make Nadine more flustered, but she knew he seemed to be most amused when she came across this way. Also, she knew very well he was not one to follow directions.
Before she had tapped him, his posture did look as though he was frozen, or deep in thought about something, like he was concentrating so well that he almost seemed unmovable. He had to have been watching the people playing this interesting game, no? Or was he maybe asleep where he stood?
Clearly that was not the case when he did in fact turn around to face her. Nadine's smile only growing as he echoed her. She nodded before taking a step closer to him in order for her to reach up to lightly kiss his cheek. "Hey.." It was really good to see him-again, like any person would feel seeing someone they spend quite a bit of time with. That just happened to be him.
"Wh-Early? No I'm not-," Her eyes widened, had she arrived too early?! Did that make her look too eager?! Wait, no, NO she was not early Alex! "I do believe you're mistaken Alex, I've arrived precisely at the time I was supposed to arrive...How do I know you haven't been standing here long because you've come too early?" Raising an eyebrow as she realized he was trying to goat her. Things really did never change with him.
....She really did miss him...
